Some really nice cars....however, more than half of those you have posted don't belong on this thread. Just giving you a heads up, not trying to discourage you. Go back and look at the "MILD" customs that were posted before you, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Or on the HAMB for that matter. Someone needs to figure the HAMB out before posting a bunch of pics.

my favorite thread so far... besides the larry watson thread of course!

  5. Rick, maybe you should define "mild" custom for our audience. :)

Agreed, a good rule of thumb. If it's chopped or doesn't have all it's own body panels, it's not mild. If it's been lowered, nice wheels, some kustom paint, maybe even a grille change I'd say your on point. Just my thoughts when I saw the original post.

I agree Rick, Crager wheels on a 62 BelAir hardly makes it a mild custom.
Not sure mike fits either but hereitis.

Why don't you read the very first thread where it outlines some of the things that take it beyond a mild custom. And my beef with with what Knas-n posted had to do was with big wheels and other stuff that makes a lot of those cars not HAMB friendly. If you really don't know what a mild custom is as accepted by the HAMB then you really need to quit posting and start reading.

Does mine count? :) My car has skirts, swivel seats, and a few other goodies that are not "correct"...

You nailed it with the Buick, the 57 Chevy-- not so much. Although both cars are stock appearing with custom paint jobs. The chevy has a 90`s style paint job with painted bumpers. The Buick has wide whites and a 60`s style scalopes simalar to the style of Larry Watson. I`m not gonna slap your wrists, it`s about learning. But what do I know.

It's not about goodies that aren't "correct"....."mild" refers to the build style. NOT radically changed, i.e. chopped or sectioned. I'll say it again...LOOK at the examples previously posted, then asked YOURSELF, does my car fit that style. Capice?

  15. The definition was labored over in the first few pages.......See also most of the Stunning "Watson" Thread that Rik is running. The majority of those cars are MILD.

Many thanks, guys. I'll get rid of that '57 & put something more suitable in its place... ;)

  17. It was a rhetorical question designed to further discussion. Looks like it worked.

Actually all it looked like was you being a smart ass to Rick. Really sounds like you need to spend some more time reading like I said, there is not further discussion needed it has been hashed out long ago.

This will be my LAST comment about what constitutes a "mild" custom...This quote was taken from the February 2009 issue of Rod & Custom, by Damon Lee:

"There are two schools of thought to building mild customs. One is to add so-called custom ingredients-spotlights, '59 Cadillac taillights, cruiser skirts, and crazy paint...

The other is a subtle, subtractive approach in which the car's lines are simplified by removing or restyling elements that distract from the overall design."

Now, if that doesn't help you, and you still need to ask...God help ya, cause I sure can't...Remember this isn't like youth soccer, not everyone gets a trophy for participating.

Don't give up now Rick, you've only told them a 100 times, how will they ever learn?
