Nicely written, it could be turned into a film.

    An interesting bit of speculation.
I can definitely agree that hot rods are good therapy.LOL
When I'm feelin' good it's fun just to cruise.
When I'm feelin' bad ridin' with some good blues and boogie helps make it better.
When I'm feelin' mad a good thrashin' on the backroads helps get it out of my system.
    Thank god for hot rods.

  4. "If there is one absolute thing I’ve learned in my 31 years on this planet, it’s that driving a flathead powered hot rod puts all problems at bay if only for a bit… and that little bit of time is usually all that’s needed for a guy to get back up on his horse." - Ryan

I'm gathering parts to build a modified and I was on the fence about engine choices. You just helped me make up my mind.

The EAB in the garage is the one.

    You got that right brother.....

NOTHING beats the sound of rubber hugging the asphalt and the burbling purr of a stroking V-8 after a tiresome day.
1 hour of driving a hotrod does the soul good.

It's a good thing you "couldn’t get the story gone…" Profound, insightful and well, I'd enjoy more about this guy.

    Thanks

Just getting in the garage and getting something done is therapy for me. Of course going for a cruise on a uncluttered back road is my idea of heaven. Either way it IS a great way to get by these days...

Yup, same way that riding a shovelhead does.

But Ryan I do hear you, my friend's flathead powered A is always fun to ride around in.

Well in my story he's selling the deuce roadster cause the guy that
wooed his wife away had a 31 Chrysler roadster and a cabriolet.
Other than that it pretty much ends the same. Sure, I'll always be a
little sore that I blew the chance to own those rides before JC
passed, but your right, a quick lap or two in my Hudson usually
makes things right with the world. Make mine six in a row, with
    a twin-H on the side...

  15. Even sitting in an unfinished car you are building yourself, after a long night of getting burned by grinding sparks and weld spatter, enjoying a well-earned brew, ain't too bad...

  16. I have to agree, driving a car w/ flathead power is no comparison to anything else on the road.

I appreciate all motors and thier uniqueness, but to be behind the wheel of the motor that set the standards, records and memories of Hot Rodding over the years is awesome, and mind flashing everytime i push on the gas pedal.

An old timer told me once, "You never drove a Hot Rod until you gotten behind the wheel of a hopped up banger (or flathead)."

I have done the flathead, now im on to the banger.

I cant wait to fire it up and take it down the road.

Some of the simplest things can have a huge improvement on how you feel, the wife and I have been pretty stressed out lately and after we left flyrite two sundays ago we just cruised and had fun driving around on a nice day in the car. It really made things better, you cant buy that feeling anywhere.

I'd have to agree as well, but for me it's hopping in my big block powered "roadster" and hitting the road after a long day at work. Nothing releaves stress like a cruz in a hot rod.

A flathead powered hot rod is on my short list...

Put on your scarf and cruise Denise! Weather is warming up a taddy so why not?

Ryan, you don't even know what this place has done for me! Stress reduction is sitting on the HAMB and even more is going out and DOING it on the truck. Gotta go, Court is over my shoulder waiting to swap a steering box!

So which one of you guys decided to get revenge for Rip and burn Johnny Cash's house down?
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070410/ap_en_mu/johnny_cash_home_fire

But in all seriousness, I completely agree with what a good ride can do for ya. The world can be fallling in around me but the roar of a Flathead or even hearing Copperhead Road in my daily, takes me away.

Isn't it amazing that the loudest things in life bring us serenity?
