Just got word that Flatdog has died, very suddenly and only apparently a few minutes ago. Probably heart attack. Just gone at his desk.
Don Jackowski, brilliant instinctive engineer and engine developer, and extraordinarily intelligent man in a rough shell.
He leaves behind his wife and two kids in college.
    Son is in MIT.

I'm in shock. What an awesome guy. He's been such a HUGE supporter of my road trips, a great pal. "Lucie" and I are really going to miss him. The Jalopy Showdown this year just won't be the same without him. I'll share a couple of heartwarming stories when I can.:(:(:(

Sixcarb, do you know if he ran at Island yesterday?? I'm just hoping he went out after a brilliant ET...
Zach is his memorial...that kid has a large share of Flatdog's mind, now supercharged with an MIT education. He will be the absolute best at whatever engineering path he takes.
Denise, I happen to know that you and your cookies were in his top 10...don't know which ranked higher.
    Damn.

No I was going to hookup with him this week, I spoke to him at the begining of last week though, I'm glad I did that at least.....this sucks I love that guys sharp edges, he has shared a ton of knowledge with me on Flattys and I feel very good about that, I'm just thinking about AB right now to.

That sucks... I valued his input greatly...

But that seems shallow somehow... There are more important things than flatheads.

    Condolences to the family.

Sorry, my initial reaction was not the most poised.

That guy was true and gave me some good advice - always had a pretty funny joke to tell too. "Missed" would be a big understatement.
