Josh Shaw sent me an email the other day with the title of, "Check this shit out!" And when he does something like that, I pay attention and you fellas reap the rewards... See, Josh has been recently corresponding with Rich Harmon - a 71 year old man...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Damn, miss those days. It's cold and raining here, but I got the HAMB to make me feel warm and fuzzy. Thanks Ryan.
Outstanding stuff. I usually don't care much for trailer photos, but these bring back some great memories just from looking at the names on those cars. Thanks, Josh.
I'm not a fan of open-wheel racing but the technology on display is fantastic. Also cool to see a Caddy pulling a sprint car. Thanks.
What a great slice of racing history ... if only we could turn back the clock. Great shots of the cars and support vehicles, etc. I'd love to see more photos of the Ford COE gas transport in the shot with the #2 Jimmy McElreath car.
Smokin pix, love sprints and have had some great history as a fan of them. I am going to see the World of Outlaws Fri. nite the 27th @ Eagle Raceway near Lincoln, Ne. Thanx for sharing these awesome vintage pix. ~sololobo~
Incredible clarity and color. Love the feel of these shots. The subjects are very cool, but so is the background. Thanks for sharing!!!
Little did we know-that someday the Offenhauser would be gone. I'd give anything to be able to sit in that grandstand and HEAR that pack run down the straight and into the corner. As far as cost back then, the primary difference was that there were no sponsors buying 18 wheelers to haul the cars-the owners all had SEVERAL large in those cars with their $10000 engines.
I was around those cars as a little kid to the point of even sitting in a running Offy powered car warming up when I was my sons age. It was a magical time.
Circle track raced on and off for 20 years. I just loved it! Them cars were before my time, but looked so fun and simple! Thanks for the heads up on these great old pics!
took a group of hambers to visit this shop just this past saturday. everyone had a great time. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=571188
Amazing photos! My dad has spoken of going to the races in Duquoin before back in the day. He used to race sprints on short tracks that looked a lot like these cars during the same era.
Take notice of all of the two wheel trailers, that's the way everyone went back then. In the early days of drag racing you either drove your car to the track or flat towed it behind the family car. Most people could not afford two cars and a race car to.
Wow, reminds me of when I was a kid. Great to see NO enclosed trailers and cool tow vehicles. The cars were all still full race cars without all the frills. Seeing these things going down the hi-way used to get us all charged up to get to the Speedway. Great stuff, need more......
Damn those cars are so beautiful. Parnelli's indy Ford powered car is a work of art. It looks WAY ahead of the others in technology. Do any of those cars still exist? (Josh)...?
