I found the same topper in an old shed on my property, and did a little research on it. I found this newspaper ad from the May 8, 1936 Cass City Chronicle, Cass City, Michigan:

Don't have room for a topper on my Panel Truck. But these are the YOM tags I have been running for the last five years.

I've been running this tag on the '37 since last summer. The mounting holes from the previous owner are just a bit crooked, and the plate is bent. Matches the bent, rusty rear bumper perfectly.

I bought this because it was cheap:D and it will always remind me of the great times and good finds at the Beehive flea market at the spring show. It's strictly a wall hanger. I miss that show. I'm guessing that they were to show that you paid the city tax. That is the way it was in northern Va. with their county tag toppers. Nobody like them!

  19. Try searching eBay for "license plate toppers"; there are lots of them there.

Got this one from a former 'shine transporter who cast a few from one of his originals. The rear shelf of a 64 500XL has the perfect spot to mount such a thing. Also displaying a "NOS" Virginia plate from 64.

I found the 48 truck plate at the dump when I was in high school, the 34 plate came off my model T fender. The plate and plate holder were crumpled up into a ball. With a hammer, crescent wrench, a vice and a little patience and I was able to save them.

Here's 3 motorcycle tags i pulled off a barn wall . Note the big hole in the top center of the tags. I think they used the biggest spike they could use to hold the tags on the wall.

No pictures but I have a nice cast aluminum topper that says HOUSTON "Bright Spot of the Nation" taken from a 42 Ford Coupe in the woods of east Texas.
My other is a cast "Ruptured Duck" GI service pin about 3" across.
