Wow, only three. I have a hard time not going: McGee Spencer Vic Sr. But I think I could very easily go Baskerville Henderson Nitti So many cars....
did i miss the rules somewhere? how come tom's roadster hasn't been mentioned? current version is definitely one of my favorite roadsters of all time. bonus, its fast, & tom's not afraid to romp on it.
aye! The Ivo T Blackie's Shishkabob special and Paul FitzGerald's Roadster are all great choices, but My first 3 are still near and dear to my heart. Ive seen all cars in person (except Blackies roadster) and have been in awe each and EVERY time! but as soon as I saw this thread, I knew what my choices were. HOWEVER!!!!!!! The 37 shell on Fitzy's car was/is TASTY as hell along with the nerfs/handmade "bumpers" in front and back, also.....when I saw the car for the first time, I was in awe of the steering wheel. Def. some custom touches. I have the old fotomat pics I took years ago, Other wise, Id post...... ______________________________________ This list should have had a FIVE car garage, but beggars cant be choosers!!!!!
For me, a lot of those cars are too much show cars. The green Ricky Nelson roadster was my favorite car when I was 12, but I saw it recently and it looks like the first thing on the road to Boydsters and Foosemobiles. Even the Tommy Ivo T (another grade school favorite of mine) as fast as it was, is too much like that to make my top 3. I'd take the Edelbrock 32, the Eliminator (with the nailhead it once had), and a track nose model A, maybe the Flynt car or one with an unusual motor. Or maybe that model A with the blown Cord motor. Or maybe another deuce with an Oldsmobile or Cadillac. It just too hard to pick the third one. Can I have 7? hans
Since wer'e all dreaming of hitting the lottery and buying 3 famous roadsters. The fantasy cars would be any of the cars mentioned in this thread. But the reality is, even if I could afford to buy one of these cars. Would I be able to take the responsibility that goes with owning a famous car. I don't think I could be happy with a car someone else created and not be able to change anything without causing an uproar. Don't like the steering wheel, interior or carburetor? Can't touch that it wouldn't be right! Some of these cars have been to Pebble Beach, you can't get cars like that dirty, let alone drive the snot out of them. So for me I'd be happier with a not so well known car. One of the best cars no one ever heard of, was posted by KiwiKev. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145955 The Jim Harris '29 hemi drag car or instead of the Ray Brown roadster, I'd be happier with his buddies car, the Bob Roddick roadster. Thanks to Ryan for that great story. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=1541 or Les Hilger's 32, no one knows the history so it's ok if you run radials
I couldn't narrow it to three. So, Roadstar and I will get a 50 car garage and fill it with every configuration of '27, '29,'32,"33/34 and take turns driving the wheels off all of them. No trailer queens allowed. Sound good Rudy? Frank
Tom Branch's roadster is definitely a nice car. However Ryan asked for cars built before 1965; Tom's does not qualify.
Well, it took to page 3 for all of mine to come up. These were the 3 that came to mind immediately. So many others qualify. 1. Navarro 2. Spencer 3. Nitti But on about page 2 I was just thinking of Fred Steeles 32 and as I did I scrolled down and someone had named it. That can be my reserve. Very hard to pick only 3.
OK then. The Spencer, McGee and Niekamp roadsters in the three-car garage. Tom Pollard's car in the driveway:
For my "show" car it would have to be the Walker/Morrison car with the McGee car a close second. For my channeled car for the Lakes it would be the Norm Wallace car with the Khougaz car a close second Norms car has that killer motor with the blower and all those gauges in the dash. For my street/strip car it would be the McMullen car or the Dorman/Koopman roadster "SICK"
I'd have NO problem getting ANY "Pebble Beach" car dirty......or making changes to a "historically significant" car. Hotrods always evolve.....
I'm with you, Mazooma. Always love the Hugh Tucker 29 Chevy, And of course, well, you all know these other two. Ol' Dad Baskerville's 32 and the McMullen roadster. Those three in My garage? I'd give anything! B
I would want most of the roadsters on this thread , and a few not on it. Really hard to choose three. But heres my pics.
