I have a 168 tooth, 14" Chevy flywheel #3789733. A 10.5" pressure plate will not bolt to it. I am guessing it is for a big block. ?? What flywheel do I need for a Ram 401 pressure plate 10.5", 168 tooth, SBC 350?? Did they make a 14" flywheel 168 tooth with a two different pressure plate bolt patterns?? Can't find the answer searching.
How about a 3991469 or a 3986390?? Anyone know the difference? Someone must have solved this with a SBC to earlyFord tranny. Offy adapter.
I used a 1950 Mercury pressure plate. That is what Wilcap says to use also The bolt pattern on the 50 Mercury pressure plate is 6 evenly spaced holes and bolted to my 1957 Chevrolet 168 tooth flywheel. Used a stock Ford clutch disc.
"378" numbers were used up to about 1964 so I doubt that it is for a big block unless it was for a "W" engine. I think all the Chevy 168 tooth flywheels used 11" clutches. The only GM dual pattern flywheels I've seen are for the later '86 & up cranks. There may be aftermarket flywheels with dual patterns.
Aftermarket flywheels for Chevys come dual drilled for both clutches. Watch ebay for one or get ready to spend $200 plus for one. I do have a gm 168 tooth that is drilled for the 10.5 clutch 3728004 but I have no idea what it is off of.
