    I think that the photo of the wounded gunner being lifted from the Grumman Avender turret appeared in Life Magazine....

    this is certainly on-topic, given the HAMB interest in historic photos...THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

    Those are some amazing images. A few look familiar but I was not in tune with who shot them. Thanks again for enlightening us.

    Love the work.
    The 42 Chevy looks to be the rare version with painted rather than chrome plated trim.

    He worked with Edward Steichen. No wonder the images are so powerful. Talent knows talent!!

    Ya, I have never heard it put that way, it so true. And to Jive-Bomber's point, I have always felt that way when staring at early dry lakes pictures, tying to find more of the story, both cars and the people.
