Cool, this is in my neck of the woods. I did not see this guy but I think there was a thread about him on the Canadian Rodder forum?

I made several trips up and down the Alcan in the back seat of a '57 Chevy with my sister and our dog in the early sixties. It was one miserable and primative week-long ride.

  9. we had a guy from Ontario make the trip to Alaska in a 29 chev.(stocker).Made it there & back without to many problems.
Makes for a great story..Picked up a stray dog along the way. so he wasn't alone !

We see lots of different vehicles making the trip every year. There were two different groups with Model A's that I met this year. One group from Georgia and one from Maine.

I searched some info with a google and i found this:

Alcan Highway (Finland, EXPECTED RELEASE: Autumn 2012, 80 min.)
DIRECTOR: Aleksi Salmenperä. co-producer:: Sigrid Hoerner, Moneypenny.
    PRODUCTION STATUS: In production.

And there is also a shorter trailer. Its in finnish, but there is subtitles. Its blocked somehow,so i cant post the video here. But here is a link:
    http://vimeo.com/31726849

There was few familiar places and events in that shorter video.
I remember that i saw him on that swapmeet that is in the video.

This movie is still not released, but there is a film festival in city of Tampere at this weekend.
Usually that kind of events are just too arty-farty for me,but this movie was presented in there.Ofcourse all the arty-farty stuff are not presented on prime-time,so i had to take 2 hrs off from the work, because i wanted to see it.It was totally worth of it:)
It will be in theaters later in this spring and i guess it will be on DVD soon after that.

Hese had some bumps on his road, but i can say that there is no sad ending in this movie.
I think its all about the journey, not the destination. But i guess thats what all the roadmovies are about.

i made the trip to Alaska and back in the 80's, both times in the backseat of my dad's 65 Impala SS ragtop. the return trip was in november. much better roads by then, though.

Unfortunately a hundred miles from my place... on work week nights only.
Rats - I may have to wait for a DVD.
