Hot Rods 31 Model A Victoria Build w/Pics – Miss Vicky

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by D-Russ, Jul 6, 2008.

  1. NOTE: You can go to the last page for my latest [small] update or start right here at the beginning for an entertaining and [hopefully] educational read.:)

Anyway, here's what I started with – a cowl, doors, rear skin and a wood kit.

And here's what it looked like when it it was on the road the first time. No glass, no interior, 283 with 3x2s, body in DP60 sealer. (2011 Jalopyrama in Annapolis MD):

And here's the completed car. Glass, interior, 354 hemi with 2x4s, shiny paint. (2015 Jalopyrama in Westminster MD):

When I started documenting this build, I didn't do a single build thread, I started a new thread each time I did an update. The links to those early threads are below in red.

This thread pics up the build in July of 2008 – the point where I had a painted, rolling chassis. From this point forward, my posts and the comments of other folks were written back at that time to the present in a chronological order as this thread progresses.

    July, 2008:

There was a lot left to do, but since I'm finally able to roll it out of the garage again, I thought I'd take a few pics. Enjoy.

DRuss32, that tech link is now on my favorites list. It's exactly what I had been kicking around to clean up the discs on my RPU. Damn this place is great!

Love the Color. Very Clean! What color are you painting the body?

  13. The body still looks like it does in my avatar and other recent threads. My plan is to bolt the body onto the frame and then fill the roof, final fit the doors, and weld in the gas filler neck and the 33 pick-up cowl vent. I'll also take some profile pics and post them at that point. I want to get some feedback on whether I should chop it a bit more or not. I've already chopped it 2-1/4 inches.

Wow! Fantastic work, I really like the color. It's different, but not too crazy. That disk brake cover is pretty cool as well. It hides things just enough to where it's clean, but you're not trying to decieve anyone. That's great! I can't wait to see the completed project. Keep up the great work! :)

Looks great! Curious question though. Do you need a panhard bar with that rear setup? Or does the spring take it's place?

That is sweet . I am still gathering parts for my Vicky. I just got a shaft that goes in the torque tube, but it is a hollow pipe with tappered ends. That has both splined ends welded in to it. One is a female end and the other is a male end. Because I am running a flathead in mine. I am not sure if you knew that or not. Anyway Dave it is coming along great.:D
