That is an insanely tight car, and far beyond anything that I could build, kudos to you guys. But one thing leaves me a little cold. It's got everything going that a vintage bird would, except for the heart of any warplane..... big, stupid power I'm sure it's fast with that poly, but the rest of the car sets the bar so high, it begs for an engine that evokes aircraft. Maybe extra cylinders, maybe forced induction, maybe just the sound that comes with aircraft level compression. Not sure what, just know that poly looks & sounds distinctly earth-bound compared to the rest. Sweet car though.
I don't know shifty... when was the last time you saw a Poly in ANYTHING that it didn't come in originally? Did anyone watch the video.
Django...great of you to keep up with the thread and answer questions! Yes, I watched all the videos...awesome sounding pipes. Though saw no smoke from the tires! Holding back a bit?!
From one fabricator to another, I am very impressed! I don't see a single detail or item that I don't like about that car. A job VERY well done, sir. And I'd love to see it in person some day.
Maybe you can do a tech on "asphalt death grip" set up. I'd be interested. Tire smoke is cool but hooking up and shutting some Porsche down is cooler.
Definitely the Pileup. And a slew of other shows this summer too. The owner is so amped up to get to drive it soon, that he can't stand it. Who could blame him?
A photo of that coupe needs to be in Funk & Wagnalls dictionary to illustrate "craftsmanship". Awesome, I'm looking forward to the etch post on riviting. We've done some riviting and it isn't particularly hard to do with the right tools.....I need to know what the right tools are.
Interestingly enough, one of my customers sent me a photo spread on this car. His brother just shot the car for Rod and Custom. Beautiful work.
Very nice work. Makes me thing of a concept car for myself. I can see it now: Gaffers & Sattler knobs, a clock from a Hotpoint, wooden spoons for shifters, oak cutting board floor, lid from the Chili Pot for an opening sunroof, windows from a Viking oven... Hmmmmmmm... Are theme cars going to be the next flat black and red wheels? Just kidding here. Really fine craftsmanship.
I think my next build may have an automotive theme, you know, like with car parts and stuff from other cars.....When I'm done, hopefully it will have a car-like vibe.....
Hmm...WWII-era Aircraft INFLUENCE is evident in Shine's truck... WWII-era Aircraft THEME is evident in this build. There's a big-ass difference. ~Scotch~
I had the pleasure of seeing this car being built. Kevin, Chad & the boys painstakenly took every measure to make it "work" and I think they did a helluva job. I think Kevin is right...don't all great cars being built today follow an era theme of some kind? Great job, fellas! Eric
theme/influence.... who cares!!! bottom line is it's another quality built hot rod that is an asset to our "world" of cars. Even as much as that chevy causes me to gag, it's better than another car rotting into the earth to never be enjoyed by anyone.
Nice job man.. The craftsmanship is absolutely awsome.....Attention to detail is the key to success on these buids.. I'd like to do a slightly similar styling theme on a Bobber....Just need to pick up some more skills...
if anyone was planning on building a plane themed car,,,,its been done to perfection!!! killer work guys!!wow
I like it. Great details. I hope those throttle controls are hooked up for use as well. Just enough theme to be outrageous but it stopped short of becoming a caricature. Maybe it's not what everyone would build or want, but there are plenty of rats, traditionals, and classic rods out there already so building something different every now and then can be good.
