I am getting ready to run new brake lines on my 50 Chevy. Should I use 3/16" or 1/4" brake lines. The particulars (if it matters) 94'S-10 rear drum, 54' front drum, 67-76 non-power Vette master cylinder. Thanks, Todd
I suggest Heathen posted good. You don't really need 1/4 for a rear drum setup, BUT....if you at some later date change over to a rear disc setup, you might need the volume that a 1/4 line would flow. Run the 1/4 to the rear, but use 3/16 everywhere else. It won't make any difference in brake performance, and the expense is negligible. Roger
I used 3/16. Vette master, disc front, stock drums in rear and an adjustable valve to the back. I am curious why you chose a disc master for a 4 wheel drum setup over a chevelle/mustang 1" drum master?
vette m/c, 2 lb residual valve in the front, 10 lb in the rear. 3/16 line to the rear, 1/4 to the front. stock MII calipers & 10in drums w/7/8 wheel cyl. Truck squats & stops. Period. No nose dive, no worries.
