I bought a 51' Shoebox at last year, nice chop but the floors were completely rotten. The 49'-50' have a different style floors and there are a good quality floor pans for them for sale. But i havent find any good quality pans for 51' with reasonable price. Those pans are simple to fabricate and i have a HF based beadroller.So...
HF beadroller is a decent tool, after you have done some reinforcements:

I do metalwork for living, mostly welding etc.But i have to admit that i am an amateur with lathe.
But i've done some bungs for my shovelhead etc,i know how to do simple stuff with lathe. So i decided to do my own dies for the beadroller.

Here is a pic of piece of original floor pan with the die i made:

And here is what my shoebox's floors look like after fabbing and welding the pans:

If anyone is interested of these dies,i am willing to share the blueprints and they are absolutely free.

Ok, thanks. I suppose the floor is plenty stiff with those wide beads?

    Thanks guys!
Yes,the floor pans are stiff, there are mounting braces under the pan which make them stiffer. My goal was made the floor just like they planned in factory,i guess thats close to it.

And so why is that style of die not commercially available? I think it looks a lot nicer then a standard 1/2 or 3/4" die.

Why not just post the drawings for the dies so everyone can have them ?

Yes it is, you can attach them by using the little paperclip icon next to the smilies.

Thanks for the hint.Lets see how that work.
The blueprints i've made are usually amateur style sketches, drawn in piece of paper or something.I think its a kind of embarassing to show them to anyone and i guess there are only one person who can read them and thats me.
I sent a better version of the amateur sketches to Big A,he sent me back a clean copy for those prints. So big thank you for making them more readable!

I got a 52 ford yesterday with the back seat pans gone so this post helps make making and replacing them simple. Good job on the post and you do good work.

thanks finrodder, they have been added to my selection.

  21. If anyone feels like making a set of dies, I'm looking for some. I drew up the plans, but I'm 0-2 for finding someone to actually make the dies (I've had 2 guys say they would, then bail).

  22. Here's the diagram converted to Imperial measurements for the metrically challenged! :) I used an online metric converter so accuracy is NOT guaranteed but I think it should work.

You told me earlier that one guy thought you were placing a larger order and bailed because of that.
Maybe this thread could help you to gather guys and gals who want the dies for group order?;)

I know that they are doing lathe work for living and want some larger orders, but hundreds of dies?
I thought it was something like 20-30 of them.
Thats nothing to do with earning living, thats just pure greed.I hate dicks like that, world would be a better place without any greedy assholes.
In here we have small shops at the countryside, who are willing to do smaller orders,i dont know how its back there..

Thanks for your words, good to hear that there was some help with the blueprints.
And thanks for the rest of you guys too.
