Speaking of both steam cars and Oldsmobiles,

They're hosted elsewhere (Photobucket, etc.). Yours are attachments hosted at the Jalopy Journal, and appear full size if you click on them, wait for them to appear, then click on them a second time.

  8. I was going to ask the same question. I wonder what the motor is - looks odd with what appears to be two cylinders but only one exhaust. My kids found a modern version of it on you tube. Not sure what it is called now.

It is a one wheel motorcycle built by Italian M. Goventosa from Udine which is in Northeast Italy.

I think it is a single because if you look close there in only one lead from the mag. What looks like it maybe a second plug on the left I think is maybe a compression release for starting because I can see a lever a with a cable attached to it. The cable goes under the tank and heads back towards the steering wheel.

Built at Wolselys factory according to my info in 1914, once the 'experiment' was over they BURIED it. It was dug up again in 1938, partially restored and displayed in the companys museum in the forties then SCRAPPED in 1948 !!!

I think this is the Canadian born racing driver Kay Petre, sitting in the 1934 Austin Seven Side Valve Racer.
