  3. Bonner's '65 before paint. Phil told me he had a match race booked with Sox at Cecil Co. and the car wasn't painted. They thrashed to get it running and took off for MD. He lost 2 of 3 because the suspension wasn't dialed in but he said he could run with Ronnie on the big end. He knew he had a good new car!! They then took it back to Charolette so they could paint it at Holman Moody.

I have to say that phils 65 late version of this falcon was the baddest of them all.The times he was pulling down and to be able to compete with the altered dodges and streched mustangs at the end of the year was amazing

Ken McCellan was one of best racers in Texas with the series of McCellan Bros. Fords. The Friola, Texas based team rose to fame in this unusual Falcon. The team stuffed a 427 Ford Cammer into the altered wheelbased car. The McCellan Brothers usually ran the car on carbs and gas in C/XS, but the A/XS shown here indicates that they may have run more than gas and carbs. The little Falcon won many races until it was replaced with a new S/S Mustang. The McCellan Bros. never returned to the funny car wars, but continued racing national event winning Super Stockers. One bad 67. Looks like the first pick it might still have the wedge engine in it

Wild Child, 1965 Falcon A/FX. This picture is from 1966 at Cayuga race track.

The chute is a Royal Canadian Air Force item. We still have the chute on the car and were thinking of re-staging this same picture at some time.

  26. This is my friend, Jim Cagle's Phil Bonner '64 Falcon "Georgia Peach" replica. Jim actually bought the original car from Phil in 1965 and raced it for several years. Jim built this car because neither he or Phil can find the original car. This car is an exact replica right down to the wheelbase alteration and Hi Rise 427. Jim and "Rabbit" did a great job. The car runs pretty good too!!:D

  30. The photos posted of Jim's Falcon were it's one and only pass down the track so far. He lifted early and noticed a front brake pull issue. He plans to to hit the track more with it next summer. He plans to make some exibition runs with the car once the bugs are worked out.
