I am working on a 30 model A, I would like to put some cool but different brake/tail lights in the rear, i do not want the small tear drop lights. I did wonder what the 40 ford would look like? Even a pair of 65 mustang tail lights, I want them to look cool, but be big and bright enough to catch most drivers attention. If you have any ideas or pics, i would appretiate it!
If you don't like those Mustang lights, how about some Vega taillights? Or maybe some '68 Cougar sequentials?
I used 41-48 Chevy in my coupe to replace the horrible Vega ones that were put there in the 70's. Don't have a picture handy In the sedan I used 37 Ford bullets mounted Under the rear body pan
Thanks for the replies! Hotroddon, do you have a picture of them on your car? When i googled the 41-48 lights i thought they look pretty nice and simple. I am not sure what the vega looks like, but i will look. Another light i have heard people using is a 58 biscayne light... Anyone have any pics of these? Thanks again, Keith
I guess I'm kinda boring... I'm using a 1950 Pontiac tail light. Everyone else is using them too. It's a common choice but I like it!!
put some 39s on each side of the rear window, point down with some round 73? mopar rear indicator lites under. that gives you exclamation points --> !!
I picked up a pair of 40s era Guide lights I haven't even ID'ed yet. They're about a 3" rectangle except the bottom has a slight point to it. Would work well turned sideways so the point aims out maybe. Most 40s era car taillights aren't too expensive. I have a set of those Biscayne lights, too, but can never quite sell them. But if you want big lights that will catch attention, round up some '59 Buick, '59 Ford, early Falcon, or '64 Ford lights... big, round, vintage... '59 Pontiac might do it, too.
39 Plymouth teardrop lights are larger and more rounded than the common 38-39 Ford teardrops. They also have that odd unique to Mopar clear glass nipple that sticks out of the lens...think it is an early form of sidemarker light. Mopar was usually first in safety stuff, sometimes decades ahead.
I used 46-48 Ford taillights without the piece that mounts them to the fender. They are small and plain. Red
