84 for me. I'll admit, I'm not too sure where I got em wrong. I know I gave an "educated" guess on the planetary gears though. Honestly, it probably wasn't too educated, but I didn't just guess either.

  4. failed with 74 and 370 points ,but some things i did not understand because my bad english

I got a 92% but failed to find an itemization of which questions I missed.
    Was there one?

I may have screwed up on the ones that use terms that aren't used in physics, like "deceleration," there just ain't no such thing.
A physicist would call it an acceleration in the opposite direction just as a turn is an acceleration in a lateral direction to the current acceleration...
And friction isn't what makes brakes work. An exchange of energy in the form of heat is what makes brakes work - to a physicist.
But some of terms like these are used in mechanical sciences...

there was a button, forgot what it was called, where you can go question by question and it will tell you which ones you missed.
i got the planetary, the worm gear and the fan wrong. on the fan i thought direction was relative to the front of the fan, but oh well....

I go an 84 also, I agree with wanting to know what I answered incorrectly. But it has been along time since applied mechanics and physics in school.

looks like Liv42day is the one to beat at this game :)

When taking tests in school, I always figured that anything over 85% was gravy

So which answer is correct on the fan?
It's going to turn the direction it turns when ON itself because of the angle of it's own blades, but that doesn't have anything to do with which direction they are referring to as same or opposite in the question setup.?
A case of a dumb question failing the testee.

My score made me think to stop what I was doing in my garage and stick to bodywork:eek: Unless there is a test for that too that I can fail.
I suck more than McPhail..ok maybe not that bad...:)

94% Reminded me of the mechanical section of the ASVAB I took to join the Air Force...but I got a 99% on that one.

I think the pulleys may have tricked a little but I did not know about the button on the left and I don't feel like taking the test again.

gosh, I suck I failed. Need to learn the electrical schematics

  20. I'm glad they don't require this test when you go to the parts store to get your parts, my shit would never get built.

I wasn't going to reply, but I saw where some mechanical engineer also got a perfect score. (I'm an Industrial Engineer)

Either way, I thought the test was cool and I sent it to a bunch of my co-workers. Thanks to the person who posted it! -Jeff

  27. 86, I can live with that. The pully section make my head hurt.

94 for me. Messed up the gear reduction / overdrive equation & multiplied when I should have devided. Other one was a lever one I misunderstood - thought the arrow was where you were supposed to lift, not the pivot - duh...!

It so happened that I enjoyed the pulleys and almost switched from Mechanical to electrical engineering during school!

Again take a look at the button to the left of the submit button. It pulls up the table of contents and shows a green check for the correct ones. I did not head back for a wrong one.

Fully enjoyed the test though. Passed it along to others here at work.

90%, screwed up the planetary gear question, they always confuse me. I then argued semantics with a couple of the physics questions. For being a mechanical engineer I was surprised I nailed all the electrical questions. Not ready to switch to being a sparky.
