    A Boner likes this.
  2. Ahhh, the '56-'57 Mark II. One of my all time favorites...

They sure don't design them like that any more! Nice choices...

  5. I think they left out 1 of the best
    57 Olds hardtop

  6. I think just about any car built in 1957 would sweep my top ten. For the sake of it though:

    1957 Ford Fairlane 500
    1957 Oldsmobile 88
    1958 Chevrolet Impala
Just about anything Buick in 1957
    1957 Cadillac Eldorado
    1954 Chevrolet 210
    1953 Buick Skylark (ragtop please!)
    1958 Chrysler 300D
    1950 Olds 88 (I know it's pretty much a 49...but I can't help it!)
Got to agree on the 52-54 Lincolns and Mercs

1958 Buicks really ring my bell, so do Mercury Turnpike Cruisers.

There wasn't really anything bad made in the 50's if you compare it to al lthe other decades. All the decades before the 50's were simply building up to it and all the decades since have tried to live up to the precedent that it set. There will never be another 50's, it WAS and STILL IS the high water mark of automotive design.

Maybe Detroit wouldn't be hurting so bad if they could figure out to quit trying to re-live that horrible (IMO) muscle car era and try to re capture a little bit of the magic that was the 50's. The bean counters will never let that happen though.

For me, 58 was a bust, 59 got better. Almost everyone hit a home run between 55 and 57. A good list. I never think of the smaller manufacturers.

Lot of good memories as a kid floating down the highway in our '58 Cadillac, power everything. Used to make my dad mad when he'd catch me pushing all the buttons and changing all the settings. Ahhh! the good times.

  14. Crap! I forgot about the Turnpike Cruiser...one of my dream cars too! 10 cars is way too short a list!

  15. I just hope this stops at the 60's lol the 10 most beautiful cars of the 70's it was a toss up between the ford pinto and the chevy citation :( then 80's chevy cavalier vs ford LTD lol ok im done being a smartass lol

  16. 50-51 Mercury and 57 Fury should be on that list.

I love your picks, but I would add a 1958 Bonneville and a 1957 Olds to the list.

Hope they don't do this for other decades. EVERYTHING newer that '64 looks like shit and I stand by that!

57-58 Chrysler 300's are a good looking car. they make the 57 Chevrolet look like a car 10 years older, and make the 58 Chevys look like a Jukebox, all 58 Chevys need is some blinky lights.

I know that everybody on the HAMB is dead set against tri five Chevys, but the '57 is the all time epitome of the '50's and should be on any '50's list. I'm a tri five fan, owner and driver so kiss my ass.

I can think of a few others but can not fault any of your choices. That just proves that 50-59 was a great decade for car designs & it is very hard to limit it to just a top 10.

Yeah, '66-'67 Novas, '65 Impalas (the biggest selling year for Impala, ever), '66-'67 GTOs, '65-'67 442s, '65 Riviera, '67-'69 Camaros, '65-'70 Mustang, '65-'66 Catalina and Bonneville, '66-'67 Fairlane GT...I see what you mean, ugly ugly ugly

Of course, your post is moot, as this is a forum for '64 and older, not '65 and newer. :D
