  8. Some of these pics really show the effects of acid rain on paint; serious air polution has been going on for a long time in areas of the former USSR and Europe.

Even more striking than the auto and military vehicle boneyards are the number of large battleships and destroyers from the Cold War era rotting away at anchor and the bottom of various harbors........

Schroll down to the bottom of the page and click the link to the russian tuners...

    Wow! Russian rice... :D

Also several very cool vehicles. Good for a laugh if nothing else.

Not a lot of 2-doors in Russia, huh? Maybe there's some killer truck material out there.

In Soviet Russia, car scraps you!

You know how you roll up to a girl in your GAZ Pobeda, and you're like "Hey baby, you need a ride?"

And she's all like "Pssh. I only date guys who drive Moskvichs"

And you're all like "Girl, a Moskvich ain't nothing but a Zazophorets with a sun roof!"

Cool pics and the ones Joel posted are in the Chernobyl area. There is an entire junkyard there of the equipment used at the plant after the explosion which is too contaminated. If I am not mistaken there is still a 30 mile zone around the plant that is considered a hot zone. The entire town of Pripyat is a ghost town, the images of it are rather spooky.

Looks more like a Mi-8 or 17. Russia made cars using old tooling from (Hudson?) in the 30s-40s. Ford had a plant there, don't know what was being made. Eventually the Russians killed all the Americans & the whole thing covered up.

the chernobyl yard will be ready for use in 3-500 years, be sure to tell your grandkids, and have them tell thiers......

the crazy thing is that people have already snuck in and started parting some of them out, even though they are radioactive....

If you like Russian chicks, just try to sell something on Craigslist & you'll have all you can handle.
