electric choke question

  1. Edelbrock 600 cfm electric choke. Do i hook it to a constant hot wire when key is on or do i hook it to a seperate switch for normal operation ?

    Hook it up to a 12 positive keyed source.
     
  3. x2 and run the little ground wire to one of the screws holding the choke on

    Powering from the ignition opens the choke whether the engine is running or not. Sometimes that's ok, other times it's a problem. If you have an alternator, and that alternator has a stator terminal, powering the choke from that terminal is a better option. The stator terminal only produces current when the alternator is producing power, so the choke only starts opening when the engine is actually running.

    Is that the same for a Holley elect choke carby?

    Yes. All electric chokes work essentially the same. 12V makes the spring hot and air being sucked across it cools it down.
