Different car. Look at the roof / windshield...among the many other differences, the "liberace" car does not have the 53 windshield/roof.
Any shots of the car with the canted quads? It looks like in the 59 photo, it is Titian Red with gold scallops, but the 60 program mentions Titian Red with pearl scallops.
Does anyone have a swatch of "Chicano purple" as mentioned for the Jerry Sahagon chevy from the program... must be a 'lighter shade of brown'
Anyway, I have borrowed a friend's collection of little Rod and Customs from time to time, and it was nice to see all the customs. Not like that any more.
Not sure what you are saying here...? All the photos of Lloyd Hammond shown here show it with the 1952 windshield and front roof section!
I was mistakenly confusing the panels wiit the scallops which I remember to be wilder from the magazine feature. Im dosed up on meds so my memory is fucked.
i have some like the ones pictured, but they are pretty rough but usable. one lense is broken(i had the piece but now its missing). has about 2 inches of surrounding sheetmetal. needs some sandblasting ect. would like them to go to good use one someones car.
Here is the only other shoe box I know with '51 Chrysler quarters. It graced the cover of March '54 Car Craft, while still under construction. The hood was said to be being modified to clear the beautifully chromed Caddy mill, which was the cover shot. Every aspect of the car was state of the art, yet I've never seen pictures with the hood. Does anyone know what became of it? Did it ever get that hood?
Article on the car in the March 1960 issue of Custom Cars magazine. I don't have this issue... so I cant make a better scan.
I really like the red color pic before the packard tail lights...looks very classy, any more info on what all was done to it??
The all red Shoebox with no hood is a different car... its sections the thread subject car is not sectioned.
I was just lookin an old mag and there was a close up on the rear taillight/quarter panel, and I was wondering what shoebox it was, now i know its this one. good stuff
That Norman Rector shoebox is my favorite sectioned ford. I love it because it doesnt have that euro-custom feel.
