Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by daddy_o's_diner, Aug 21, 2012.

  1. Hey Rich, I missed seeing you this summer. You need to make over to lunch sometime. Frank and some of the other guys meet for lunch every Friday. It would be great if you could make it some time.

Pincher - long time no see. I hope all is well. The stripper is down in Indy. Don't know of anyone local.

  6. Weekend update...

    Cowls lip is done:

Rear quarter lips started. Made patterns and dies to form replacements on a Pull-max:

    Cut out the damaged parts:

Start with the patches while the new lips are being formed. Ryan Schon, our paint and body guy, made it in from Cincy to pitch in.

  12. Cool Rooman.

Jo sent me up some pics of the dies and the trial piece. I'll post them when I can get to a real computer.

    Thanks for your help Roo.

  14. Today Jo made up some dies for the pullmax.

    Top die;

    Completed set of dies:

Our own Rooman making a trial run on his Pullmax.

The test piece - you can see the remnants of my qtr lips laying on the floor in the background. The new ones should be done tomorrow.

I'm pretty stoked to see this body getting closer to complete. Party because it means were making progress and partly because I know when patches are done the chop comes next. :D:D:D

    Dang Daddy-O! I THOUGHT I smelled a 32 5W!!!!

I havent been in here in a LONG time. Life puts things on hold for a bit.

Your car is coming along VERY nicely! I'll be following this thread when I get back to work on mine.

Makes me think (or sick) of just how much work I still ahve left to do...haha

Congrats on your progress. You should be proud of the hard work you're putting in to it!

  16. Well slepe67, I'm glad ya like it. But, I can't take credit for the hard work. That would be Jo and his crew. I'm just working hard to pay for it. Since I'm a dude of average means, paying for it ain't all that easy.:eek:

    Well worth it though...

Seriously, it is bothering me NOT being down there and helping out with the build. It's going to be especially hard when they chop the thing and I can't be there. I just can't afford another trip down or to be away right now.

I can also say that I have spent hours and hours (and hours) pouring over books, magazines and the inter-web looking for inspiration and ideas on how to make this thing completely bad-assed. If it turns out half as cool as I see it in my head, I think folks are going to like it.

  17. More progress pics:

Formed some angles to the shape of the arc.

    Made a pair of them.

Got the metal-master Rooman to pass them through his Pullmax.

Tada!!! New quarter panel body lines!!!

Damn, these guys make this stuff look easy.

I owe another huge thanks to Rooman for pitching in on my build.

Not only am I blessed to be able to fund a build like this, but I appreciate and am humbled by the talent possessed by the folks that are a part of build. Truly awesome!

  20. What, no nailhead, Terry?!?!

Nothing better than a flattie in a topless '29.

I love the 24 stud in my '34, but this coupe needed a just a little more. ;)

Not to hijack or anything but I also cleaned house and sold a few things. Then bought something that I thought I could never afford ImageUploadedByTJJ1349896600.872754.jpg

    Have not looked back yet.

A car with a very tall roof, but a car none the less....

Keep watching, something might get done about that tall roof this weekend. Just sayin'... :D

I'm watching and waiting with anticipation since my 32 5w has the same issue, to TALL.

  26. I dig it the way it is. I hope you're not planning on chopping it too much!
