Hot Rod / Motorcycle Inspired Art (PIC HEAVY)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BOSTONCAMARO, Oct 8, 2012.

  1. I stopped by my friends shop and studio the other day in order to use his TIG as I didnt have the right rod on hand.

This friend of mine, whose name is Michael Ulman is a welder by trade but also is an unreal artist. I do some stuff myself, but what I do is build furniture from scratch from reclaimed wood and steel, Michael builds hot rods and motorcyles and other stuff, completely from scratch from reclaimed materials.

Some of the stuff is large (for example the Postal Hot Rod is built from a full size Mailbox, some of the stuff is smaller like the Bomber Plane, built from a WW2 bomb that is like 3 feet long)

    Check it out!

  4. I image it takes a lot of talent, time and patience to create works of art,but why a rat rod inspired piece although the work is nice?

On the other had the dragster and bike are absolute knockout .HRP

  5. Wow very cool indeed. Great man cave stuff. It almost looks like it could run.

Love a creative mind....very cool indeed.

  11. Well some of the stuff on the harley I would like to won to use on something a little less artistic. That old pre knuck mill is cool as well as the back half of the springer.

For me the rust would be an issue but I am not an artist and I am sure that there is a message like social decay or something that I am supposed to get from his work. ;)

  12. Very creative! The more you post the better it gets,,HRP

Man, this is inspiring. I love it!

  22. Check out the website, I will see what other pics exist of the dragster, he is having Open Studios on Nov 3/4 so more pics will be around then for sure.

The motor is sometype of compressor I believe, I think came from a large farm implement, has carburetors all around, sick stuff!

  24. I think the wood bike is my favorite, was cool to sit on that, felt just like a real bike....I cant wait until he builds an actual, real hot rod..surely will be sick

  25. Mike is a great guy, as is his brother.
Their dad's "Tribute to Big Dan's" (or something like that) has always creeped me out.
    I dig it...but it's creepy.
