Jess Tyree had a Pontiac powered F/C when he came to Australia around 1969, it had a Canadian Pontiac motor in it and when he made his first run at the Surfers Paradise track he stopped after 300 feet and the spectators all booed him, he then backed up staged and did the run. The spectotors then realised they had just seen their first Burnout.

  3. You know it's serious when Willie has both hands on the wheel!

  4. ok, I know this is not a drag car, however, I thought some of our younger HAMBers might like to see where all these Austin altereds came from, hard to imagine...

That is the second (Logghe chassis) Winged Express. Mousie and Willie never really liked that car which was purchased to fulfill match race commitments. The Dodge pickup is the same one that Mousie still owns and will use to tow the cacklefest version of the Wing once it is finished. Look for that car to debut at Pomona next year at the 50th Winternationals. I had hoped to cackle it at the CHRR next month but like my own NT/F project time is running out to get everything done.

I'm trying to imagine the first hot rodder to look at one of those and say, "What a great race car that would make".

Bob Frensley's car driven by Gene Turnage. When I worked for Bob, I was told that Bob Glidden (a mechanic for Bob back then) wrenched on this car.
