  1. I was thinking the same....like a more worldly  vibe in the body language than what what we had in the 60's.

When I was around 12 or 13 ( couple centuries ago) I had a "minimalist" bike that I had removed everything related to brakes, fenders, and so on. I used to jam my shoe between the frame and rear wheel for braking. In a summer I wore down 2 rear tires and had a nice slot on my left tennis sole. The greatest gig was to arrive at full speed, jam the rear wheel and came to a screeching halt, the longer and louder the better. Ah. the good old days!!.

    nope :D

I'm sure I'd look like a dork :D I regularly do an hour street/trail ride on my old rigid street bike in my normal attire, even on epic cross country rides it's never occurred to me I needed spandex and I resent paying for someone else's advertising.

40 years ago, in 1972, a Mr. Thompson was moving his photo office location from the Rampart area of Los Angeles to Glendale. I saw he was throwing hundreds and hundreds of 8 X 10 inch B&W negatives into the trash. They were all from his files that he had compiled since the late 1920's.
I asked if I could have some of the negatives and he said "help yourself, kid".
I took about 500 and, yet, thousands went to the dump before I got there.
    But...I did get 500.....
All 80 square inch negatives, too....

They look like clown suits. Bikes ride just as well in t-shirts and jeans.

try spending 6 - 8 hours doing a 100 miler in your jeans and tennies and come back and tell me how you feel. the shorts are padded where it counts, and have no thick seams to rub you the wrong way and stretch in every direction. much more comfortable than thick jeans.

if you are huffing and puffing by the end of the block then there is no need to dress for the ride

What a score! Thanks for saving them. Would Mr. Thompson have been associated with Earle C. Anthony? Please post more Packard dealer photos.

Ever go to a NHRA national event? You can see the high dollar crew guys wearing the gaudiest colored and out of style clothing around. Expect them to start wearing leisure suits any day now.

Back in the day the real clowns at Barnum and Bailey didnt look so out of place....
