Since this is a 34 Ford, Firewall space is at a premium with a 59 motor, My guess is the he is running a short fuel pump stand that does not offer a filler tube, they added a filler tube in the pan.
I am sure I have seen that pic in R&C in the past decade, it was a feature on a pioneer. It may of been the article about rodding during ww2.

Zgears' roadster is one of my favorites. Now if I could only see the thing in person since he lives in NC now.
Essence of the HAMB spirit. This thread should be labeled a NATIONAL TREASURE! It's a serious resource OR a great place to lose yourself for hours, depending on your mood!
This IS the best thread! And NO BILLET JUNK only (real Hot Rods) Like it shuld be. Thank you all on this thread!!
After spending HOURS going through this thread and almost been late for work a couple of times, I just thought I'd thank all of you guys for those pics. Here's one more.
The pic's caption reeds:Habitual traffic violator gets a sticker on the window of his hot rod. This sign brands cars of Los Angeles drivers who break auto safety laws. Officer L. Samson decorates the windshield of Richard Warden's T, one of 98 who preferred the sticker to jail on July 23, 1947.
Super cool pic! I see you waited and made your first post a good one!!! Ya think the sticker slowed him down?????
For picture A) do you have a picture of the car that is behind the 318 roadster, the 497 roadster? It looks like a car I saw for sale a while ago... well less of a car, more of a pile of parts with the 497 still in paint on the door and the rest if the car is just rusty parts. The reason I had to ask was because the one I saw had a homebuilt ohv looking style head. And picture B) that thing is awesome. I have had something like that rattling around my brain for about a year. I want to build something like that so bad... SO BAD.
With all the great shots in this thread I thought it might be fun to hear what a 40's flathead that ran the lakes on nitro sounded like, so I'm adding this link from another HAMB thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLFTO0Bx9-E
Incredible.....just incredible. Flatheads are the most amazing sounding engines and when you throw 20% nitro into the mix my jaw dropped.
