They dont look very rusty so it has to have been somewhere in the south or west, there looks to be at least 2 convertibles,a 55 ford and a 58 olds. Jeff

I like the line in the ad : "Old Volkswagens have a habit of becoming other things. Like new dune buggies."

From their mention of "24 years ago" I'd guess the ad is from 1973.

That's an understatement. Not to many more doors either. I'm sure China got a lot of use out of those old soldiers.

I see 58 caddy eldorado. All you could make out of it in the photo is a couch.

At least 2 55 fords:mad:. Even if you had just the trim off those vehicles imagine how much it would all be worth.

  20. Actually there's two '56 Pontiacs if you stare close. 2 '59's, too. And I bet you could pluck enough good pieces of trim out of that stack to bring double or triple in today's dollars, what the whole pile brought as scrap metal in 1973. (I have a buddy who told me of buying rough roller 5-6-7 Chevies out of junkyards in the mid-80s, saving them from being crushed, for $5 and $10 for the whole car).

The 58-59 Chevy, 61 Chrysler, the '59 Pontiac side spears... lots of expensive trim pieces or lenses on those. And that's just stuff I've priced out or sold myself.

  21. and thats only one picture of one location at one given time.. lord help us...

That metal probably started out as Model A's, then became WW2 Tanks and Ships, came back as these '50's cars, returned in the '70's as Toyotas, then became Hyundais and is now Chinese bikes from Wal-mart.

What is the wagon with the oval bumper and downward facing spears? That thing is seriously cool.

I could see that bumper getting modded and stuck on the front of a custom.

  27. Advertising at its finest....several 55-59 Fords, several 58-60 Chevies, even a couple of 58 Caddys. Pontiac, Olds, and Buicks, oh my!

    I'm thinking Studebaker Commander.

1961 is the newest year I can see there. If those cars were in rows instead of a pile, you could damn near retire off of them. It's a shame, but then it's what makes the survivors rare and the parts valuable, good or bad.
