4.71 need some help

    Hello ,I would like to defuse my 4.71 to polish the body, there is some precautions to take to defuse it ?

    Take some pictures while taking it appart!
    Note: there are some shims that are very important that you don't mess around with. Do a search here, and you wil brobably find more details.

  6. Just stack everything in the order it comes apart. Make sure you get any shims back in the same place that they came from. Take pictures if you have to.

    Its not going to come spoinging apart like a snake in a peanut bottle.

    The most imporant part of disassembly is probably pulling the gears off, you need to use two pullers, and pull them both at the same time.

    I made two puller out of 2 pc of 1/2" flat bar. 3 holes. 2 to fit the gear bolts. 1 in the center i welded on a big nut, i think it was 1/2" UNC.
    Use a center bolt, slowly tighten, same with the other, back and forth.
    Hope this make any sence:)
    Probably someone else has a better intruction.

    Proper nomenclature is key when doing searches.

    Search on 4-71, not 4.71.

    They use different punctuation over there, it helps to let him know how to find the info he is looking for.
