This is a totally awesome surfer rod/custom.......A 33 or 34 Ford 4dr sedan....Looks completely redone....Custom paint and trim, custom interior, with Chrysler wire wheels and WW tires..........picture taken by Lleroy-Grannis a noted surfing photographer......I understand the restaurant in the background is still there or was as of 2008 or 2009....

I want to do something very similar as my first project, just something about it that I REALLY like! Hopefully one will come my way when I can afford it. Thanks a lot for the info.

  9. Real surfers were not notorious for building very high end cars. Most were simple they were used for getting the surfer and his board to the beach. and the occasional late night date in the back.

If you do a search of AMT models I believe I recall a few surf rods or woodie wagons or surf wagons that they had. They would have been a little more high end as surf rods go.

You can't go wrong with a simple Naugahyde roll and pleat (small pleats for a '60s car) and maybe a call custom wheel, wood wheels were popular in N.Cal. A teaky hanging from the mirror, and stockish looking paint. Tommy the greek style stripes would have been popular in my part of the country.

My 55 Chevy Belair. Looking for a vintage rack, or some good old pictures to study and fabricate my own.
