Ok folks, as winter (ugh!) approaches and we hunker down for that long winter of all work and little driving of the cars, HRCC announces Season 4 of Hot Rod 101. This year DRAG-F*$%ING-STER BABY!

With the ever increasing interest in Gassers, we decided to build one for the class and give some safety and technical know how to Joe Average garage builder. What works from the old days and what didn't. Pure Nostalgia to Nostalgic looks with modern gow fast! We'll cover it all. The car will be a mid-'60's style gasser. Not so much a nose bleeder, but still up there compared to what happened in the late '60's.

    Classes are as follows:

Jan 18: A brief History Of Gassers, Chassis Design and Principles of Dragster Construction $25.00
Wheel base, rake, power and torque considerations, tire size, suspension variables, chassis and frame design, shock selection & period correct vs. passing modern tech.

    Feb 15: Tilt Noses & Drivetrains $25.00
‘Glass Tilt Nose Installation, Motor and transmission combinations, u-joint selection, axle shafts, brake considerations, ergonomics.

Mar 15: Roll Bar and Cage Design and Requirements $50.00
Roll bar and cage design for various speed classes, accessory placement.

    April 19: Accessories Mounting $25
Fuel cell & pump (if electric is used), safety harness, parachutes, battery, N.O.S. bottle mounts, switches, fire systems, fuse block, window net, etc.

May 17: Floors and “Tins” $25
Fabrication and installation of interior floors and tins.

As usual, classes are limited to 20 people and lunch will be provided. Those pre-paying for all five classes will receive a special thank you gift.

Pre-requisite for the course: Watch Two Lane Blacktop of course!!

If it didn't cost me $150 to get there every time, I'd be so on it! But alas...

Any chance they could video the classes and have them posted for those of us too far away to attend?

COOL! project. Those cars make great gassers. We can always use more GASSER FREAKS! Your classes sound like a exellent chance to get some great knowledge at a very affordable cost. Wish I lived closer. GASSERS FOR EVER!!!!!!

Gee hunny, sorry I missed your birthday but I was learning how to build a roll cage!

I wonder how I can get around that one, I've wanted to do these classes for 3 years now.

  27. Sure, make the one I want to take $50...

I shoulda saved my tips from lap dancing instead of getting that really cool Tramp Stamp tattoo and my nipples pierced...

HaHaHa! Yeah, we've actually got almost everything we need for an FED. 1964-earlier the wheel base restriction was 185 and shorter. And the new table is 264", so you know where we're going with that. :D
