    I'm curious what you were doing to the trans tunnel with that torch...heating the metal so you can leave it bare without rusting?...and it looked like it had a coat of clear on it when you were done...

    Not sure but I think he covered it in oil first and burned the oil into the metal to give it a smoked look.:confused:

    mr32, tu as fait quoi au juste avec ton chalumeau ? Mis de l huile sur ton cache pour la bruler ? Ou simplement bleuir le métal sans dessus ?

    donc j ai chauffé la tôle pour bleuir le métal et après on jete de l huile dessus pour lui donner un aspect vieilli , après on le patine avec de la laine d acier et cela donne le résultat d une armure vielle de 150 ans :)

    un coup de graisse de mouton de temps en temps et il ne rouillera jamais :)

    je vous remercie pour tous vos commentaires , cela me donne la pêche pour la suite

    Explanation about the torch on the trans cover :
    " The trans cover was first heated, just enough to make it blue. Then, some oil was thrown over it to give a vintage look.
    Finishing was done rubbing with steel wool, and the result is it looks like a old 150 y/o armour ( nb: which is in fact quite wrong, they stopped using armours when firearm appeared, it was inefficient. So it s 500 or 600 y/o, not 150 ).
    Regular use of tallow avoid rusting. ( omg... Fortunately it s a convertible, imagine the smell )

    Pour info, l usage des armures a cessé vers la fin du Moyen age il y a 500 ou 600 ans, la découverte des armes a feu les a rendues obsoletes :)
