Johnny Joyo's grandpa, Peter Thomas, is what most would call a renaissance man. Wow, I did not realize until I took a second look that the taillights were lowered down the fenders. Great looking shoebox. I wish I could be helpful and add information, but, alas I have none. Thanks for sharing this.
Sure is a very clean looking little Ford. I can't tell if I've seen it somewhere before. It may be that it just looks like so many of the ones from the little pages. I say that not as a slight, but as a compliment to a car that is right on the money with its mild customizing.
Very clean and well thought out. I don't remember seeing the taillight treatment before but it works well.
The tail lights Seem familiar to me too.. But they made me think I saw the same treatment on some other car I can't put my finger on.. Hmm.. Rik?
I bet he captured my late Grandfather at Normandy ! great story ! My hat is off to him ! A true American hero for sure !
Wow, never thought I'd see "Grumps" on TJJ! My Grandfather is my Hero. 86 years old and still works hard doing what he loves every single day. I'll try to get the name of the customizer in CA who worked on that car in the 50s. The upholstery was done in Tijuana. The owner lived in Port Arthur, TX and was part of a car club that was around there in the early 50's. Anyone know the name of a car club that was around there at that time?

Era perfect and love the interior. Grandpa's are a godsend of knowledge of an era gone by and anytime they talk man do I listen. Cool Gramps you got there JohnJoyo.
Thats the look that I dreamed of in 1962 with my high school '51 shoebox and thats exactly what I going for today with my '51.
Mr. Thomas is a hero! "fought at Normandy, went on to fight at the Battle of the Bulge." What a man! Veterans rule. The car looks cool. From the front, the car looks a little like Weesner's shoebox.
