  2. Coonan joined our Street Rod Club in Maryland when he was 15 or 16. Great to see he still has the mentality of a teenager.

I'll never grow up, never grow up, etc. from some Disney movie?

NOTHING ... like having a spare chassis for your Roadster ... along with you for a road trip.
I usually take along a few spares ... but this takes it to the NEXT level

This rules. Doesn't seem that long ago Casey and I were puling away from your house in Brookside with my rolling chassis in tow and you shaking your head grinning at my tow bar setup.

"Geoff, you'll be fine here for a few days. The liquor store is over there & the motel is just down the street. I'll pick you up on the way back through."

  17. Steve and I were talking about this at the L.A.R.S. and I told I told him I thought it freakin too cool.We both kinda laughed at the notion and I told him there would be a bunch of naysayers but go for it! Can't wait to talk to him on Wednesday when I get to Louisville and hear the stories of the road.

    What am I missing here:

"That determination has not gone untested. Once word of the plan spread, all of Steve and Geoff’s roadtrip buddies bailed and made other arrangements for traveling. And absolutely no one in NorCal was willing to help the two with a tow bar set up. Folks just didn’t want much to do with the idea… at all."

Roadtrip buddies bailing on you because you come up with an idea that just my be fun to look back on in your dotage??? I'm thinking they are the type of buddies one really doesn't need.

And what the hell was up with no one in Northern Cal being willing to help with a tow bar for the trip. Crap, it really wasn't that long ago when we would use a set of Ford wishbones as a tow bar and then tow all over Hell's half-acre! Has the fear of liability gotten us to this point in our lives? Glad you guys got some help on a problem that really wasn't a problem. Sheeeeeeesh, what a bunch of pussies!!!

Anyway, glad Steve and Geoff got this thing on the road and glad to see the naysayers didn't ruin their fun. Go for it, guys!

I will be there looking for them......2 more days and counting. Last year I was the 11,508 car to register.........they will fit right in.

  22. I wish I had a picture of the ridiculous setup I had to move my '46 Tudor, sans front suspension, from my garage to my barn 3 miles away in one of the most densely populated counties in FL. It involved an ATV trailer, ratchet straps, 2 6' long 2 x 8s with a 3/4" hole drilled down the center and a 6" long 3/4" bolt and a stack of washers.

  23. Hell, that sounds like half the hot rods in Florida. :D

We are waiting for them in Peculiar Mo and then heading up to St Louis w/ them and on to Louisville. Got here last night after leaving Salina. Wished they'd hurry up and get here. I'm hungry.

seems to me it would be more fun without the chassis behind you slowing you down. nothing like pedal to the metal when you are getting on the freeway or cruising at 85 mph.
