I'm pretty sure that only the early ones got this style lettering, but not positive. Any help identifying is appreciated. Thanks!
I have no idea but it has to be early;I've never seen their logo done like that. Also the 4500 rpm limit says something.I assume that if it has a bulb in it,it's 6 volt.
I was re reading the TRJ article and from memory is was either early to mid 30's or mid 30's to early 40's.
there should be a letter followed by numbers printed on the housing, letter prefix designates year... I agree, it looks like late thirties early forties to me too..? there are a few Stewart Warner aware type on board, curbspeed's pop for one
While we're waiting for "alchemy" to set us straight, here's something to read: Classic Stewart Warner Gauges http://www.roadsters.com/sw/ He helped me with some of the information on that page, including the date codes. - Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
Without reading the date code printed on the back of the can, we can only guess early 50's. The electrics, which this is one, were popular in the early 50's and the face got a square SW logo in the later 50's (about '55). Sometimes these early 50's had a winged logo, but some didn't.
hmm... the silver lettering is really horrible on the back, but it looks like it might read: "9t" Is the year always a prefix or is it sometimes a suffix? EDIT: Sept of 1950?
