I also have doubts, but I wont be shure untill I try it, what I did to encrease my odds is, I used a high temp heat tolerance paint(1000 degrees) let it cure while driving the bike for 2 days, and just know applied the glossy basecoat to see if it can withstand the heat better this way, "IF" it holds(after 1 day on the bike) I can proceed with the silvering of the piece and final clear, I think my chances go up if the glossy base can hold.. we´ll see

two thing to keep in mind, first it was a rattle can high heat temp basecoat, second, the heat tems where much higher due to the stainless steel exhaust instead of just steel... but am not giving up just yet, I try it again soon with a better coating...

oh and I am doing this grill for a forth gen Nissan Patrol( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Patrol#Fourth_generation_.28Y60.3B_1987.E2.80.931997.29 )

thanks, buddy, I´ve been meaning to show you this..

remember how this is a 3 stage process? and how if you miss in any of them you could ruin the piece? well in my how to I omitted this piece beacuse after clearing it, it went bad on me, so I had to write the How to without it(you can only see one piece done) I had to redo this piece from 0 again.. but at the end the client was happy with the end result(made him wait another 3 days)

here I show you how I messed on the last stage.... this could happen to all of us, so we need to be extra careful...

just to be on the safe side buy another silver reducer concentrate(just $10) for the 500ml bottle(the 120ml that came with the kit went bad on me in the 3rd week, you dont want this to hold you back)
    http://angelgilding.com/A2036.html

and as for the wetting agent, 60ml aint gonna cut it... get the 250ml one it lasted me as long as my 120ml kit lasted(rubbed instead of spraying it)

Thanks, one thing to keep in mind, Spray On Chrome can be one shade darker than real chrome and the chrome found on those plastic grills is about one shade lighter than real chrome(they use alluminum), so.. you must tell this to the owner before

the dual spray gun is pretty cool why did you stop using it? it looks pretty straight forward.
I have read that the air compressor is not your friend with spray chrome I am assuming because the air gets contaminated with oils and moisture

72 hours today... I plan to spray chrome it this afternoon... :)

I dont have access to cany concentrates.....so I use single stage sherwin williams(from the same Excell Base brand) paint mixed with the clear instead, I use blue and magenta to make a violet tint color... some colors when mixed with clear dont go translusent... I dont know why, for example I could not make red candy using just red from sherwin williams, I also cant make yellow or orange from them...

Ok, Time For the Videos... :D

    this is the Cleaning/Degreasing process...
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9z9dgSA2gJY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

after the dish soap cleaning, all you do is rinse with normal water(no need of Di right untill the silvering process) then comes the wetting agent
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PgxacQOg_mY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

after the Wetting agent rinse with normal water and start pumping the sensitizer(did make a video of it sorry) after 20 seconds start rinsing with normal water, but do a one more rinse with Di water, allow the water to drip for about 5 seconds(never let it dry) then start pumping your Silver...

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/teTPJZemcFo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hCrMWvQoZSo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I didnt want that heat pipe to be just like any other chromed heat pipe... so I clear coated the piece with my favorite of colors..Blue, Blue Candy that is...
