Give-'em-Hell Harry and Ike, Jan. 20, 1953. What is the car? I recall
Harry liked Chryslers, but this is something out of the ordinary, I think.

Regarding just another woodie, that is Dr. Sam Shepard being driven to the hospital by his sister-in-law Betty. The hair photo is Dr. Sam after his second trial with the second Mrs. Shepard, Arina and his son Chip.

It's the 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Presidential Limo that served until the Kennedy '62 slabside took its place.

Is that J E Hoover in front of Truman?

    B:confused:B

  15. No. Here's the caption from the AP site: "With smiles and a wave, U.S. President Harry Truman, left, and his successor, president-elect Dwight D. Eisenhower, leave the White House in an open car for inauguration ceremonies in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 20, 1953. Sitting in the front is Sen. Styles Bridges of New Hampshire, and behind him is House Speaker Joe Martin. (AP Photo)"

BTW, those smiles were only for the camera. Harry hated Ike with a passion, and Ike hated Harry's ultra-liberalism.

That's George Hunter, a well known industrial photographer - Toronto based.
That image has been my screen saver for a couple of years. My father had a
photo-lab and George would come by and insist on being in the darkroom
with the tech to make sure he got exactly what he wanted in enlarged B/W
prints. The prints we made would be sent to a COLOR lab in NYC as a guide
for crop, size etc.. That would have been in the early '70's.

I last saw George 3 years ago at a celebration of life (wake) for an industry
colleague. When I stumbled over this image I sent an e-mail but never heard
back. Last I knew he was living in Mississauga (suburb of Toronto) and was
    in his '90's.
