I like using oetiker clamps for stuff like this that's more or less a permanent install. Harley Davison uses them on their oil & FI lines.
So, after quite a few years, I’m back. Since my last post in this thread, my Dad passed away and my son was born. I put my ‘61 on the back burner....
Try a Pertronix kit. It'll fit into your stock distributor.
Thanks, Tom!
Get a vacula brake bleeder (even the HF version works very well) or at least a mityvac hand vacuum pump, though this will give your hands a...
I'll also add: keep all your machine tools on casters so you can move stuff around and play "tetris" so you can fit stuff in a 2-car. It's hard,...
Here's mine: I keep the middle open as a "bay". [IMG] Machine tools on the right: [IMG] Workbench space on the left: [IMG]...
Another simple thing... is your gas cap vented?
^^ You suck, bro! :):p:D
See you all there!!
Another vote for Rockauto here. Plenty of parts for all my vehicles. Only downside is the wait time, but selection is awesome.
I'll add... buy lots of booze to calm you down after all the cussing you'll do! :p Take your time. It's a PITA but not impossible!
Two years ago when I was doing a cylinder head swap on my DD Colorado, I hauled mulch and pavers from the local big box store since my wife wanted...
Lincoln Innershield NR-211!!!
Sounds like a short somewhere. Check all exposed wires. Maybe some critters chewed some wires? Oh and bench test your starter assembly. Make...
Agreed. I've fixed my clutch pedal shaft/bracket and did my exhaust with a flux core wire feed welder. The welds are butt-ugly, but solid.
Get yourself some Kano Kroil, too.
Smaller diameter = More "rap', higher pitch. Bigger diameter = Less "rap", lower pitch
Got one for work... one of the few things that gets me thru the day!
It's the best penetrating oil on the planet. It's made by Kano labs. Google "Kano Kroil" and get some. You won't be disappointed!
Or Kroil, if you want to see magic happen :D
Maybe costs about the same, but sometimes it's easier to use the tool to quickly clear a clogged zerk or two than to replace them.
Get one of those zerk cleaning tools that you put grease in and hit with a hammer. I have the KD tools one and it works great.
Most generator problems stem from worn brushes. Rebuild your generator; it's very similar to a starter and parts can be had from your local NAPA....
I'll be watching this thread. This is the same engine I want for my truck! Anxious to see this engine build!
Yeah make em work! You'll never regret it! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Good insurance would be to either tack weld the pickup to the pump housing or get one of these:...
Ok here's a source for engine parts, too: http://www.kanter.com/truck/trgmcn.html Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
SBC would be the easiest way for performance. Here's a good thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=367487 I toyed with...
My truck has the 3.90's in it. My poor 305 screams on the freeway. Planning on an A833 trans so I can at least stay out of the slow lane!
