Thanks for posting the pics, the stats and the performance. You guys have achieved excellent performance out of your cars.
Hi bobw, there is another one that has a broken 302 GMC, I think that he is going to switch to a Chevy 250. And one more that is almost ready with a slant 6. And another one in Webers Falls That is about ready also. could be nine easily. And once in a while there is a secret build, I hope.
Five years ago when we started this mess these cars were running in the 16s then 15s /14s/13s took acouple of years to get through the 12s then the okie outlaw a flathead car broke into the high 11s and then the race was on, it was pride up the back stretch. The gmc guys took dead aim on that flathead adjusted for windage and elevation and cut loose, no flathead was going to out run them. the okie outlaw was sold into wild west of sanfransico never to be heard of again. two of guys took up radio controlled air planes, the other one has jr fueler he brings out every once in while. the gmc guys are waiting another flathead to show up.
Great that the group is growing. The reduction in E.T.'s over the years is remarkable. So, how many ponies do you need to run mid-11's??? Slant 6 guys, how loose a converter do you run???
On the dyno at 6000 rpm 315.9 hp and at 4800 rpm 305 tork. Converter- TCI 4500 stall. A 3500 stall did not work. My best is 11.53 at 113. I have ran 114 a couple of times, but too much water in the treads for best ET. 93 and 94 mph at the eighth mile. And thanks for asking. This is that 11.53 run Bridgewater's 9.95 run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7FwPlNKOqY&feature=player_detailpage
Oops! Looks like I'm about 100 HP short for this coming season. Well, It's a "training engine" Joe, I've watched that video and your other videos dozens of times. I use them as a motivator. Now that you got your dragstrip back, I hope you and your fellow SDRA friends/competitors have a great 2012.
bobw, in the pictures above, Todd Martin, the tall one with the gold car, he and his new partner, Kieth Haney are the ones that will be running the track.
Old Jimmy Six -- Roy, is the 272 Chevy 6 in Bob Hindmans car a 250 bored .125 to 4" with stock stroke? Nice set of cars with some impressive numbers. Good luck in 2012.
Joe Hamby -- Old Jimmy Six -- Joe & Roy, thanks for the information, just trying to learn about these motors.
Old28, The easiest way to tell a 235 chevy from a 261: The 235, the oil line on the left side is about a 3/8 inch hole and on the 261 that same hole is a 1/2 in, so on a dirty motor this is easy to see. The captians bars are on the left side, under the manifold, maybe middle of the block. And on the right side maybe 8 or 10 in. behind the distributor. On a dirty engine it is just easier to see that oil line. The 261 has a bigger bore, but a larger combustion area, this to keep the compression the same as a 235. So if you run a 261, you might want a 235 head. But the man to ask would be Joe Rosberry.
Joe Hamby -- Thanks for the identifying information. For this season (2012) I am going to run the 194 motor that (ThingyM) ran in his car. During the year I will start on a built Chevy 250 or 292 for the 2013 season. I want to see how much I can get out of the 194 just for fun. The 194 is basically a stock motor with a mild cam and 2 - 94 carbs.
