    Part two http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=420970

Like a little ray of sunshine from Heaven he is now at my home. I lost out on two 32's before this one. Dirty2, Casey, Skotz, and Brokenspoke kept telling me, if it was meant to be.....I am so thankful now! Here's a picture of him from back in the day (late 50's- early 60's). The story goes like this. The owner was about 12 years old when he saved the car from going to the dirt track around 1955. He paid $100 dollars for it and made payments. When he finally paid it off, he and a friend pulled it home with ropes and bicycles. He then started working at a salvage yard and soon found a 392 Hemi. This a picture of it during high school in the early 60's.

Then the owner started drag racing and a blower was added to the Hemi. I know he raced with the big boys out in California some in the BB/A Class
Then in 1966 the owner took him apart with visions of Bonneville 200 MPH Club. The car has been sitting since then. And here's mine and Brokenspoke's adventure to pick him up:

I called Bill and told him that I had bought a car. He told me that he was off work Mon-Sat and Sundays too. Here we are taking off Monday afternoon. I was suffering from lack of sleep in a bad way.

First stop with Bill is always here for Jerky! Kinda like Denise and BBQ.

We drove about half way and spent the night. Then drove directly to Speedway Motors Museum. We knew we had to be there by 2pm, we arrived with ten minutes to spare! We had called Jess (you've seen the build she and her Dad did) and she was walking over to meet us. Jess's Dad John was the picture taker! If you haven't been to this museum-you need to find a way. It was incredible!

Tried to get Jess to pop the hood so I could look at the linkage on the middle light, but she said "No" :(

Can you imagine swapping an engine in 15 minutes.

    What an investment!

Somebody told Henry Ford that the 32 axle wasn't strong enough for his new car so he had to prove his point

    No Billy F Gibbons - I looked!

Brandi, I though of you when I saw this one!

Marketing ploy so when they grew up they would continue to use their lube oil.

Cheater's manifold. Note there is a fake oil filler neck and a second carb under the one on top. This guy used to beat Speedy Bill and he couldn't figure out why - years later he got a phone call from someone at a garage sell telling him about this manifold. He ask the last name of the owners and said to buy it. Mystery solved!

Someone enlighten me on this spark plug with the valve installed ??? Adjustable spark??

This is a bad picture but show's one the of first independant front suspension (four 1/4 elliptical springs) and chain driven rack and pinion.

In all we spent three hours in the museum. You just can't imagine everything they have! Thanks, Jess, John, Ron and the Speedway Family for a great afternoon!
Ok back on the road and heading for the 32. We had to stop for this picture. We laughed for an hour.

Finally I got Bill back in the truck. And off we went. That was the longest drive of my life and then I saw him. Yes, Megan, I cried again!

Deceased owners wife and I. It was bittersweet, as I know how hard it was for she and her daughter to part with his car.

All packed up and ready to roll
    .

16 hours later we are home.

And a big Thank You to Tanya, who kept telling me it will all work out if you are meant to have it, kept me from hyper-ventillating for two weeks, and watched Ty while I was gone, when I know she really wanted to go with us!

AWESOME FIND! this car made a huge impression on me in the pics i found here in the East Coast picture post. i printed several off and started a 1/25 scale project last week. i'm guessing the frame in the original build is long gone?

Neat car are you going to leave the body as is or paint it?

  21. Congratulations, your patience has paid off in a big way. That also gives hope for the rest of us that are still looking. A great body AND a blown hemi? Can't get much better than that.

True, I am guessing that Hemi probably tweaked it a little bit.
