On My New Age 5 window I sprayed the inside floor AND the outside bottom of the car with Lizard Skin. The inside was also covered with DynaMat. Lizard skin on the underside of the body seemed to help with sound deadning and it makes a nice, tough finish for underneath the car, which on a driver won't get seen anyway. Just passing this along...your build looks great!
Gas tanks painted. Four coats of SEM Trim Black on the bottom. Direct to gelcoat-no primer as per manufacturer's instructions . Scuffed with 400.
If you are painting in your garage, pop over to my garage painting thread and share how you set up your "booth" and all the other details. Larry.
Just about done cutting and buffing the frame. Wet sanded with 2000, then 3000. Used 3M compound, then machine polish, then ultra fine to buff.
Firewall is painted but not cut and buffed. Trans is rebuilt with a shift kit and a 2000 rpm stall converter.
Well thanks. It's not perfect like a pro would do, but I'm happy how it came out. I learned a ton of stuff about painting. Now the fun begins. Reassembly and taking the time to detail everything as it goes back together over the winter.
A bit OT, but thought some of you might enjoy my latest find. A c1915 Van Norman Model 0 milling machine. Can't find much info bout it.
I have followed your build and congratulations on it. The looks bitchin, just need to get off my ass and finish mine. Grand son can't wait.
Thanks all. Though it looks painted in the pictures, the body is still bare gelcoat. Lots of small stuff to do. Would like a nice stereo, need to install the blinker indicators and hi beam indicator. Finish the roll bar. Next up is dye the seat black. Any suggestions? Leaning towards regular fabric dye, though I've read some info on cloth and vinyl paint, and even something called chalk paint. Next winter I'll start the body work and paint. Who knows when I'll get to the interior. Just gonna enjoy for the summer.
