On another note I scored a Dana 60 for the 61 over the weekend.
Sure hope this car will be Meltdown friendly when I am done with it.

My extensive girth proved to be too much for my previous Yamaha PW50.

  13. Why not, I think some of the older school double pump Holley's came that way.

Speaking of Holley questions,I'm thinking I should definitely be running 50cc pumps on these 6109's of mine.Does that make sense?I figured with the big plenum and long runners,it would help the balance of nature in harmony when feeding this lil ol 289

Also,I have a serious question for you guys.
I've been talking quite a bit with our young Brother "Smoothy" about his 56 Chevy build (which is pretty killer,I've gotta say),and he has come to a point where it looks like he may be stuck:

The young man has realized that he does not have any space in his budget for a steel clutch can.
If he doesn't have a blow proof bell housing between that sbc and that Muncie,he's not going to pass tech, and he could end up with a nickname like "stumpy".
He desperately wants to make the race, and isn't interested in showing up just to sit in a lawn chair on the car show side.

Does anybody have an old Lakewood steel bellhousing out there gathering dust under the workbench that they would be willing to donate to this young man's project,or even one they could make him a really good deal on,so that he can make it to this race? We're all pulling for this kid,and it just about breaks my heart to think of him not making it this year.

Whaddya say fellas? Can anybody help this young dude out?

You may just have to play with the pumps
Kinda depends on how for you are in the throttle when you launch the car.

Thanks Scott! I have to say, I don't think I figured in any body parts as weight reduction on any part of this build. "Stumpy" hahaha

Also, Dad's yellow 57 got in at entry number 565 for the second year in a row. Looks like I'm out to try and beat more than some "Lunar"tick and his 56

Well Scott if that is the case there ain't no way the shaker is gonna outrun anything lol but if you need a driver to speed shift that shaker to victory I guess if you ask nice I might know someone who could help you out lmao.

I wish I had an extra scattershield but those are hard to find cheap for a Chevy I went to a swap meet last sat and out of all of them there only one was a Chevy pattern and it was a fairly new quick time and it was new price I'll keep my eye out for one though

Yes, I am running the stock mounts right now. I could always go to a crossmember off the trans I believe.

I would start out blocking off the power valves, the ski slope cam you have wont make much vacuum, along with the tunnel ram slowing the vacuum response will contribute to the low speed BOG  when you flush those two 750s.
    Da Big 289 Gulp

The 6109s came with factory 75 front and 76 rear jetting so with out power valves, try about 82 square.

Later when your tune is close, you can do a vacuum check for power valves (if they make a low enough number) put them in and reduce jet size. ;)

  29. He better figure out that jetting etc. pretty close on the Canada Dry DYNO! If he gets sloppy and try's to just track tune it, I'm gonna "split his weld"! By the way, I'm betting 30 cc pumps on the primaries is good n plenty. I start with 50's on the back, but don't rule out 30's there either, and that should be left to street n track tuning.

  30. A common problem back n the day with stock biscuit front mounts, and rubber bell housing mounts, when you drop the hammer, the engine lurched forward, then rear ward, hit the dizzy cap on the firewall, break the cap and/or rotor, KAAABLUUUEY through the carb, SPUK SPUK DIE, and you just became next round runner up.
