Here is my friend's 57 210 Hardtop Coupe that he bought new .....

    57CHEVY.JPG
It had some trim on the bottom of the trunk lid that I've never seen on any of the 57's I've looked at.

Oh my gosh.....now isn't that a coincidence?.....what would the odds be...it's very interesting! How many 29' Austin Speedsters are around Phoenix, OR ???...very intriguing...very well could be!!!:D-- Ray

  4. Bulletnose - Nice 210 your friend has there! The optional trunk trim was usually seen on the Bel Airs. Guessing he added the rear bumper guards, none on the front.

"Simultaneous Duplex" - tube version of a cell tower? These must have been very rare back then, imagine what it would be like to not only have one in a period car now, but have it work as well.

Who was the critic on this? I guess he or she missed the word "prototype".

I do believe you are correct! I never was sure what car my grandfather actually had...but, I think you nailed it spot on!-------I kind of thought it was an early Dodge, but the radiator is too tall...and the headlights sit so high up on the fenders.....am posting 3 more pics of what I ''thought'' was his car also, but may be just different family cars of the same period....not his!:)

  10. The car in the three photos above is about a 1919 Dodge Brothers. Looks like the same car in all three photos to me. In any case, they are all Dodges. 1920 and newer had a slanted windshield.

Oh boy Tommy does that bring back memories.
I don't remember the year that Hurst ad first came out, but I do remember it. I bought my first new Hurst Comp Plus shifter in 1970 as a Sophomore in high school, put it in my second car, a 57 BelAir two door hardtop, just like the ad.
I replaced the Fenton shifted three speed with a B/W T-10.
I know many people may think this is a little weird, but that picture really makes me feel nostalgic for those times.
    Sooooo cool, thanks.

… back in the summer of 71, I bought a 1964 Belvedere 2-door hdtop that had a factory installed 4 on the floor with positrac. Bought it from the owner's brother. He said his brother who was in Vietnam at the time had blown the 413 that was in it and had put in a 361 in it's place. I immediately put a Hurst "T" handle on it. I had a friend who worked at a local Chrysler/Plymouth dealer. I was quoted $ 850.00 in the fall of 71 for a brand new long block 1970 426 Hemi complete with the hydraulic lifters and all from the dealer. What with my heavy duty 4 speed and factory posi-rear it would of made a great fit. Unfortunately, the car cost me $ 450. I was just barely making I believe a $ 1.50/hour working 26 hours a week , so could not come up with it as my car payments were $ 35/month. Even with a yard pulled wreck engine they wanted $ 450. Geez, seemed like a lot of money back then and I suppose it was but compared to today it is scratch. Funny how time changes even perspectives but funnier still how I can remember the costs as well ...

WoW, John, I FINALLY got you! This is a '14 to '16 DB. Look at the front fenders where they meets the frame. They have the cut back toward the radiator. Raimani, your grandfather better replace the crankhole cover or he will lose oil or gain mice inside the oil pan. Looking again, it's two different DBs. The first is '14 to '16. The second and third pictures are of a '18-'19. The front fenders are different and it has 7 lugs wheel rims. Also, notice the different height of the headlights. Early is lower then top of radiator, later higher. Spotlight location is different too. SO John is 2/3 right. He's one of best at car ID!!

This is an outtake from The Munsters. It's not really a stick shift '55 Chrysler, just something the production crew placed there. It's supposed to be a used car lot.

I believe it could be a 1917 Buick Touring....the 'hood' panels have straight up & down louvers, where many of the same year had different shape or were more closely-bunched....the pic I added to the post is a 1917, with same cowl, hood, body, fenders...so, I'm goin' with possible 1916-18 Buick...the only noticeable difference I can kinda see, is the rear fender 'dip' is slightly off...but, it's a darn close comparison visually to most other period Buick's from 1916-18 in other pics I've seen;)---Ray 002.jpg

  27. That is why I posted a touring car photo and said, "roadster OR touring car" because you cannot tell in the photo of the car in question in post # 106246 if it is either one. Can YOU tell by the frontal photo?
