  1. Your little sedan is talking to me also!
It's saying "Leave my body and interior just as it is.
Get my front and back down a little. Get me bigs and littles.
Get me a few simple engine up-grades, then show me off!

  2. HaHaHaHa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sedan body would be more practical year around... and the speedster is fine until the sun is beating down and roasting you ....

    there isn't a wrong answer here .

I just found this thread and I am SO GLAD you didn't go messing about swapping bodies. That speedster is something special and unique for sure!

$350 for a battery? Hey, that's only maybe around twice or less expensive than an Optima or generic these days!

  11. Hello patmanta!
Well I guess I'll keep the 10 year old fossil I have
    a little longer!
$350 is enough for 3 of what I buy!

  12. OK My $.02.
It's supposed to be a race car.
Run them straight out the back, under the axle.
Otherwise you have clearance problems with the tail lights.
And race cars don't like unnessary bends in the exhaust.
I'll give you $20 for the Harley pipes!!

I vote for the straight pipe, with the angle cut tip and painted the same colour as the rest of the exhaust.

Straight cut. Same location no angle cut. Cheap and easy. No foolish chrome ar angle cutting! "We ain't got not time for such foolishness! "

  15. I think your original idea of black paint with angle-cut ends would look good. If you don't like the angles, you can always cut them square afterward.

  16. I would get rid of both bends. In front of the wheel would look good straight or angled.

  17. Damn those wheels and tires are pretty!
You really have $8,000 worth of Lionell trains?
    I might know a guy!
    Keep up the nice work.

I agree, the satin blue looks good.

  19. Just ran across your thread. Really dig the RP--speedster.

  20. A very slight megaphone taper would make those exhaust pipes look great. Like the old driveshaft tubes used in past, but you could fab or roll some out of lighter sheetmetal and then start the taper around the door hinge, increasing diam ever so slightly until ending about where you have now. Maybe 1 inch diam increase over the distance.

Wow! My grandfather was a salesman for Lionel in San Francisco. He had a TON of stuff. I think my cousin still has some of it.

  23. A little off topic but the train stuff was real hot up to about
10 years ago then started down. Guess it has to do
with who played with them as kids. A lot more kids had
them in the '40's and '50s than the '60s and '70's.
There are a lot less of those guys around now playing with trains.
    Kind of like Model T's!

When I was young I had Gene Autry guns, by I never had a Lionel train.

I just needed to quote a song, I like and this might be one of the only places where people know what I talk about.

I like when people has some nice e stuff, and trains and especially model trains.

It's the only time the substitute I'd just as cool as the original.

Aposed to sex and hot rods. LOL

  27. I thought you wanted vintage period correct?

  28. Ya that's it!
And if you are lucky, the reveal is painted and if
you are very careful, it might be shiney stainless underneath.
