Hey guys! So I have been on this website/or app for about a year now and really just when I got my truck was when I was on here the most. And since then we have made major changes! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1448865640.865557.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1448865663.951055.jpg the picture above is from alittle over a year ago. Stock suspension with a 351w and c4 tranny. Ya know it had it moving around the drive way and stuff and even snuck it off one night for alittle back roading. But in a years time we (my father and I) did a 1989 crown Vic front frame clip swap. Bring the frame, power steering, front disc brakes, and a new hydraulic roller 302. Dropped the truck an overall 6 inches and also swapped the rear end with the 8.8 for bolt pattern reasoning. Which then also got four linked. Since we swapped to and automatic we did a steering Column swap with a 1976 f100 and works perfectly because the 64 steering wheel fits. It's just an update and maybe a few of you guys might Remember me from way back when. Long live Hod Rods!

  3. Cool. I will follow along as i have a 64 also. Did your 64 steering wheel bolt right on or did you need to modify it to work, because i want to do the same thing ( i need a automatic column). Post some pics of your truck.:)

The steering wheel fits perfect. The bolt has to be cut off with a chop saw for the horn cover to fit.

  5. Thanks bud

Pictures would be cool! I'm building a 64 F100 SWB right now as well - Crown Vic IFS, T-bird IRS, bagged, 429, C6, and a 6" top chop...

My son told me about this site. Visiting him for Christmas. In fact using his IPad lol. I like your post. I have a 66 F100 and have heard about the crown Vic swaps. Will they bolt in? Also will a F600 dash gage panel fit? Saw one in junkyard.

  8. Could you take a photo of the column in the engine bay? Like to see where it ends and the connection to the CV.
    Thanks in advance.

This is the steering linkage on my CV front under the 64. Not a stock column, one of Speedway's generic tilt columns.

You can see where it comes through the floor at the top part of the stock triangular shaped hole.

Alright update on the old truck just got finished with the floor pan patches (floors were only alittle rough in some areas) going to spray the floor pan with some Raptor bed liner just for an extra seal against water and then putting my custom rubber mat in it. will post pictures after we are done!

Before and after raptor bed liner. Super easy very little prep. Took 1 1/2 bottles because I sprayed it on pretty thick for a good seal...now just time for a 24 hour cure then the seat is going back in!

The crown vic we used (1989) didnt bolt in like the newer ones seem too. the frame is the exact same width as the crown vic. you could also do an entire frame swap because the wheels are the same spacing as the truck! Will on have to build new mounts and tunnel the bed and also chop some of the frame off of either end that isnt need for a short bed......but might work perfectly for a long bed!

Does anyone have any opinions on how much I should notch my frame for the rear end or are there any kits that some one suggest? And how long did it take to add the notch?

How low are you going is the answer to your notch. I did a small C, about 1/2 of the frame rail for my axle over spring setup. Don't forget to box the rails up to bring back some of the strength from cutting it away!

Did any of you that did theses swap happen to save spindles and hubs? Do they resemble those in my post: Springer Sprint Axle ID? Thanks for your help

  22. If it was me, I wouldnt use that little c-notch. Go with the big step notch, that way if you decide to go with airide or lower it more you wont have to do the job over again. But then you will need to modify the bed floor. When i welded in my step notch it took about 4 hrs from start to finish with the box already off

Was thinking about doing the axle of the leafs at first and then switch to air ride so that seems like what I will be doing.

I saved the entire front end of the truck if that is what you asking and I cant take measurements on the straight axle if you want.

If a little bit is good, a lot is better!!

Obviously too much notch and not enough frame rail strength left for a leaf spring setup though... I grafted a Tbird IRS in between the rails and it strengthened things up nicely!

Alright got the new windshield in and was going to put a headlinner in but the paint and body shop broke it. Yes they misted it with water because its a cardboard headliner does anyone know how to install these damn things and making them fit right? Or any videos that show what to do? Thanks in advance

Good luck. None of them ever see to fit. I got a left over rod doors hard plastic liner, it fit decent but I had to break off the tabs and use screws to make it work

After making it mount, breaking off their tabs I like it. I have a unibody, it doesn't fit the back of the cab perfect, but most people wont see that part. Going to have to repair part of it. welding seams in the A pillars the heat came up and warped it a bit. That was my dumb fault though
