That's an impressive score! Will it still fit under the hood or will the Coronet be getting scooped?

  10. Nothing too exciting, but Sebastian has been getting the engine parts ready to go back in, these pistons according to the TRW catalog will put us right at 10 - 1 with the 64 cc heads we will run, sure to be a strong street motor. The motor was basically new, kid was swapping in a twin turbo set up, so scored the 406 shortblock for next to nothing, looked perfect inside, we will throw fresh rings and bearings in it of course while apart, check clearances etc.

I haven't touch my car for a while, but I just got a few bucks after selling my off road truck that was dying on me.
Anyways, I ordered a bunch of goodies and I can't wait to get to work on my car.
I got the disk break kit
Engine mount kit from butch performance
    Cavalier rack and pinion kit
    Aerostar springs
    F100 shock mounts
    Full suspension rebuilt kit

I was advise to change my steering column, with a tilt column, since I'm going with the r&p, what column should I get, out of what car?
Thanks ill post pics of the stuff as it arrives

Those are F1, I believe F100 used a sheet metal type shock tower.

Being that you're using these in a non stock application, you don't need the F1 part numbers, you just need to find shocks that are the right size for how you're using these towers.

I'd just measure it or try some mock up shocks. But maybe @Ulu has some ideas.

I didn't do the F-100 bracket mod on mine. I used KYB Gas-A-Just monotube high pressure gas shocks in the stock locations.

  19. Ulu....Any recommendations for a KYB part number that works well? also Sebastian, lets see pics of all these Christmas gifts you just bought yourself

I bought them at Sebring West in Fresno CA & I just had the dealer look it up in his catalog. The PNs might still be visible on the shocks, but they're 30 years old & I don't guarantee they'll still be the same.

Use the F1 brackets. With the factory upper mounting locations it is pointless to even have shocks on the front because they don't really do anything.

One of my current projects, chopped 50 Chrysler. I'm patching the rust then swapping the stock 251 for a balls out slant six and 4 speed.

I got some work done, finally I had a free few hours to get in my garage, I'm on the process of cleaning up the frame to set up my new r&p steering and sbc mounted in there.

So a little update, I'm using the cavalier rack and pinion, I'm using the fatman kit, there is some adjustments to be done.
Now the bad news, the inner tie rods, for the 1990 cavalier v6 are too long, what are my options other than cutting, and re weld everything?

I know the brackets are in the opposite side, but I couldn't clamp them to the frame that way, so this is just to give me an idea, to roughly where I need to mount it, does any one has the measurements of their fatman cavalier rack and pinion?
