We used to pull into any spot we could find and do that years ago.ALL those spots are gone. I would suggest paying for a spot in the overnight lot and save yourself a big hassle.

The question should be, why would you want to? Been there, done that (sleeping in a car) and it is highly overrated. :D

Most people who use an overnight lot would have a trailer or some other RV to sleep in.

It looks like the overnight parking is 50 bucks. If you're roughing it, you could always head over to Walmart and sleep in your vehicle there - free.

You are not supposed to sleep while driving ;) :D
    Reminds me of the joke:
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like Grandpa, not screaming like the passengers in his car. :D:D:D

I'm typing this from the bed of my truck right now, just thought I'd check the HAMB before I go to sleep. Back at it early tomorrow before the rain comes.

What a way to live. Sleeping in your car parked next to a Porta-Potty. Doesn't get any better then that. Sure beats a hot shower and a good nights sleep.

Expanding on the original post, can I pitch a tent in overnight parking?

  18. Be adventurous sleep in some one else's car.

  19. It could be worse, he could end up in a room next to you.:)

  20. Station wagon and air mattress actually isn't all too shabby.

  21. Sleeping in your car you may wake up dead.

  22. You can buy a one-man pup tent in the Wal-mart for about $30. An air mattress is another $15 or so.

Not very waterproof though. Which means even if it's not raining, you may get wet from condensation overnight. Ask me how I know?

One year up here at Norwich my van was down and all I had was my rotty old work truck, so after I set up I went and bought a tent.

  23. LOL. Open mouth, insert foot! Never saw that coming.

  24. Eventually every one will wake up dead but if you take a few risks here and there just think of all the funny stories you can tell * (St Peter). insert other denominational gate keeper here*

It was raining one night and I was kinda between domiciles. I found an unlocked 67 Chrysler Newport with a queen size back seat. I woke up from a very peaceful sleep on I-5, did I mention the driver/owner freaked waaay out?
Just make sure the keys aren't in the ignition if you've had a drink.

  27. I would grab a motel room even if I had to drive an hour to Hershey. Even those are iffy with the crowd the event pulls.

I lived in a Ford station wagon for 3 weeks when I was between apartments... no fun. Grabbed showers at work, ate a lot of fast food. People I knew were okay with me sleeping in their driveway and I was able to get a couch now and then. Lucky it was May and not January...

  28. Now thats a funny story. Obviously you are still alive and if it turned out that he was headed in the same direction you were it also had a happy ending.

  29. We have all known some one that has been there and it is not pretty. I hope that was a long time ago and that things are better. .......but you can't compare three weeks of hard times with one or two nights of adventure camping. Hell I would go stir crazy living in a Hotel for three weeks. Bad times help you appreciate the good times.
