I was going to blast my wires, but a friend told me that Les Schwab would sandblast and powder coat them for $35 each. They're limited on color (gloss black, matte black, white, red, yellow?), but they look pretty damn good for 35 bux. Took them about a week.

Finished the metalwork on the dash. No filler on it yet. Primed it so it doesn't flash rust. Living a mile from the ocean has its challenges.

Yes, it's true. I had all my 16" wires sand blasted and powder coated in gloss black for 35 bux each. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1442807232.926928.jpg

Soaking parts in molasses while getting other stuff in order and chasing kids to school. Wheel on the left is soaked and wire wheeled and right is just media blasted. On to brakes and spindles tomorrow. image.jpeg

I went to Less Schwab and they quoted $25 and change. I removed the tires and I taking them in today. They are 19" Chevy wire spokes. The molasses bath looks like a good way to go. I need to build a tank to soak my frame.

Great Build !! Like the idea of using Ingenuity for your build Mopar motor and the grill insert, Looking good.
Will the grill inserts be coming in production for Purchase??

Hadn't planned on making another insert, I suppose I could if somebody wanted one.

I dropped the wheels off. $25.20 each is the quote. Thanks for a bit of inspiration! :)

For less than that you can send them to me and I'll take them to Less Schwab and send them back. Or ship them directly to Less Schwab.

image.jpeg In addition to my spindle mod hub swap that I posted for tech week. I have been working some black(er brown) magic on a bunch of crusty parts. Had them soaking in molasses for a couple of weeks and now they are ready to come out. Washed Em down and ran them over with a brass wire wheel.

image.jpeg They were pretty nasty to start with. I plastic blasted the paint off, but it doesn't touch rust. And the local yokels want $250 to sand blast four wheels.

  30. I bought a Sears powder kit a few years back .... and ruined the aroma of my house for a few weeks cooking it in my stove. They are pretty cheap, less then a hundo. You will have enough color to do four wheels. Course your home will stink longer then mine did. Figure four days of fun for four wheels, hell ... may as well do the spare too !!!
