I'll assume you mean Tommy here on the Hamb that started this thread. Tommy has had a few health issues however he is doing well at a rehab facility. He'll be back on here soon hopefully.
Good to see some pics of "Mister Shorty" the chopped model a coupe in the bottom picture. I'll have to dig out some of my old pictures to and post them too later kb
I live in the Baltimore area and haven't see "Mr Shorty' for years. I remember the blower was gutted out and it had a carburetor inside the blower. I always thought it was a cool car. Wish I knew who owned it.
I worked on it around 1984-85 , I knew that it was owned / built by the "Count" Ford parts counter sale man, then Jimmy Walter, then it was For sale in Dundalk / Grey Manor Terrace area ( around 1984) with a chopped yellow 1936 Ford coupe with a olds motor( old Mag cover car) in then sold to Dallas Cooper, over in Brooklyn later kb
Brooklyn is on my side of town. I'd love to get a lead on the car. I'll need to ask some local hot rodders if they know Dallas Cooper. Any relation to Gene Cooper; owner of the speed shop on Hanover St. in South Baltimore?
HI; don't know he was a bar tender and bouncer down on the "Block" Here's some pics of it back in the 80's when I worked on it, I'll scan them and some of the old Nats East pics so they show up better later kb
Thanks for the ID confirmation and extra pix, kb cookout. I thot that was Mr. Shorty in that pic, but these old eyes looking at that old photo just cudn't see it well enuf to be sure. I knew it when Jim Walter owned it and, like 41hemi said, haven't seen it for years. That's good info on it, too. Hey Al, there's that Cooper name popping up again. Dallas cud very well be related to Gene. I was gonna ask you if that was Mr. Shorty in that pic. Locating Mr. Shorty and having it in Jalopyrama wud have been a real treat. Didn't we recently see an ad for a '32 Ford Panel for sale in that Grey Manor Terrace area? FYI, I haven't heard from the nephew of the guy who sold Gene Cooper's car or any more from the guy in FL who bought it. Looks like a dead end.
Good catch on Rich and Frank. HRP, if you're feeling up to a little travel and want to see the coupe again, you might want to attend Jalopyrama in Westminster, MD on the 24th of this month.
................................It would be way cool to get Danny and Brenda up this way for the Jalopyrama Reunion. Hope he gives it consideration.
Our Son during one of our Timonium trips in the mid 70's. He went on to become an Automotive Engineer with GM.
Found a few more pictures in my slides folder. Our yearly trips with family and other club members were all memorable. The twists and turns down route 15 in the PA mountains, the driving and other events, a few breakdowns and successful repairs, and who from our group could forget the old "Rundown Sundown" Motor Lodge where we stayed a couple of times.
Oh, yeah ... Rod Jousting! From Timonium '77. I'll load the rest of them in albums as soon as I figure out how.
Great to see it still in the family. Did he have the car at one of the Rodders Journal shows at Pimlico? It looks very familiar.
Sadly, Tommy is still in an assisted living facility and most of his hot rods and other belongings have been pretty much liquidated.
Thanks for the response. I am sorry to hear that. He's a good guy, even if he is a self proclaimed asshole.
One thing I should note. In the TIMONIUM photo the Studebaker truck is owned by the same guy that owns the Studebaker in the new Cumberland photo. Cool huh?
Thanks Don and everyone, for all the great memories. My first one was 76 or 77, never missed too many nats east since then. I took my new wife of only 16 then, in our 38 Chevy coupe. And we camped there in our old camper trailer, the { Home Sweet Home}. Then later, we also loved York Pa, when they still had the camping there too. Now days if the wife goes along. We have to get a Hotel. That's why the Jalopy showdown and the Western Md. rounded up, are so much fun these days. Getting together, with just some old friends. And then camping again.{ Street is Neat, And Camping is cheap.} That was on the rear door, of our old camper. lol I should restore that old thing. But hay, keep the old photos coming. And Remember that Bull roast! yum yum. Ron...
Here's some - probably not 1974. Some might not even be Timonium, could be York.. Long time ago haha.
Jim Jacob's coupe. I've got some of Ewing's coming - trying to get the pictures to post right. More to come later.
