what did you get done today

  1. Spent most of the day trying to save a 83 year old gas tank, cleaned out all the sludge and that reviled a lot of deep pitted rust and thin metal in the bottom of the tank, made a decision to break down and replace it,I don't want to vat it,paint it and then have a leak.

A new tank is in the works. HRP

  3. Finally seamed sealed my floor today, 100 or more degrees in the garage.
Probably lost some extra pounds also.

  5. Hey Eric, What kind of hoist is that?

  6. Picture 18060.jpg Finally got the last brake drum off of my '31 Dodge in order to do a brake job. It only took four days of pounding on the puller until I decided to use the three foot sledge hammer. WHAM!! Deal done. Now on for the brake job tomorrow....

It's one of those hydraulic "drive on" type they use at tire shops. Runs on 110VAC and is really handy. Lifts almost 36" so it's great for rotating tires, doing brakes, whatever. Picked it up on Craigslist about 5 years ago for $350. Best part is that it's doesn't take ANY room, I just park my '50 on top of it!

Hit me up in a few months, I may be ready to part with it after my shop is done and you're not really that far away. Besides, we'll be down for AMBR and GNRS.

I built this little guy, took the 34 out for a bit, cleaned the garage...made smores and drank a few beers...all and all a pretty productive day. ; )

My 8 year old son Luke dictated that a "through the roof" stainless tube air intake system is required for my C Cab:confused:, so I spent the day fabbing it up, and will post pics on my "Mack C Cab?" thread in due course!

Washed my 55 sunliner, two weekends in a row of driving it in the rain got it nasty. Its days of being driven are numbered as the shows are coming to a end and if I do bring it out it will only be driven when its not going to rain,I am tired of cleaning all my vehicles due to the excessive rain this year. Next month I am going to start on my winter projects so they will be done when the brutal winter arrives after december and want to get everything done to my old cars and daily drivers, when it gets very cold I will be in the basement building models.

  16. That sounds great!, when you get a chance, PM me a overall pic.

Cleaned an prepped all of the new sheet metal to re-skin the quarters on the Falcon.

Started marking out the smashed in right-rear corner for a donor-graft.

Texting behind the wheel is bad, m'kay.

Spent a couple hours trying to chase down a 3/8"x 4" stud to hold the exhaust manifold on the 55 Willys pickup 226 flathead. The longest I could find was 3" so I got two of them, cut and welded them together. I will install it in the morning.

It's not done, but I'm porting a cylinder head for the first time. I'm so nervous.

  22. Got the Land Rover Series 2 column and box for my Modified finally finished. I had the worm machined to remove the brindling on the upper and lower races and replaced the inner column top race with an oilite bearing. There's now zero play in it and it's tight as a very tight thing... Result. Also fits in with my vapour blasted theme....

    What will today bring?

Thankful we didn't get hit by storm or heavy rain. Heart goes out to those in Carolina.

By sunset I'll have the trailer loaded for Hershey with all my unwanted stuff. I like the look of things without the clutter. Wonder if I can sell enough stuff to buy a TIG unit. Bob

Formed and poured 55 feet of concrete decorative landscape edge over the weekend.

This is car related, now I can take all the concrete crap and mixer out of my garage and back to storage shop and get situated for winter projects.
