I just picked up an 8.8 rear out of an 1998 Explorer, it has an electrical plug on the housing with two wires coming into it ? Does this engage the limited slip ?? Thanks Mike
BUT ! you could use it to provide the pulse signal for an electronic speedometer if needed. Just sayin'
If this is true, what a great idea...........Thanks. Otherwise, you can remove the receptacle (if you wish) and make a little plate to cover the port. Ray
It's the ABS speed sensor, not needed in your application. There's a wheel attached to the crown wheel that triggers the sensor. You can leave it there or remove and cover with a plate. I've seen this done and the protective ears either side of the sensor just ground off. There's an O-ring under the sensor shoulder that prevents oil leakage due to pressure inside when in motion.
